Review: Liondub are celebrating a decade of existence and they're doing a three-part compilation series covering the past, present and future of the label. By definition, then, these series' feature plenty of talent from all across the spectrum and time period of the genre. One of our favourite of the 26 cuts is Bou's VIP of Keep Away, a deliciously double-bass infused number that is both funky and heavy, the ideal combination, and he's flipped up the arrangement here with some precisely placed note changes. There are also features from Vital, Euphonique, Dutta, Marcus Visionary and more, with the overall vibe being one of toughness and power. Top stuff.

Review: Lion Dub have reached a decade of activity. A decade! To put it in perspective, if someone was born the year Liondub started, they're about to enter high school/secondary school. It's a crazy achievement and one matched by the craziness of the music they have on offer to celebrate, a four-part journey through their past, present and future. This instalment is all about their past and it's exemplified best by Serum's VIP of Sound The Alarm, a Liondub classic, which Serum has flipped into a characteristically badboy, stabbing little roller. The vocals float above in a haze of reggae smoke, whilst the beat pulsates below. Awesome stuff.

Review: Celebrations abound at Digital Terror HQ as they continue to highlight five feisty years in the bass game with a series of ridiculously heavy remixes. No punches pulled: Jaydan takes Hoogs' "Puffin Clouds" and showers it in broken glass like it's confetti, Hedex turns Macky Gee's "Greed" inside out with a brand new stompy bassline but all the killer samples in place, Callide takes Cue & Sense back to school with a series of crafty amen edits while Lyptikal demolishes "Badman" and rebuilds it into a swaggering hype frenzy. Review: Well here comes a brand new collection to get all heated about - looks like Soundbully are bringing the noise in the form of a series of remix volumes. Kicking off with Volume 1, this release is all about Jayline's eccentric style. Ranging from Telekom's remix of the weird and wonderful "Too Jazzy" to Certified Sickness' massively bassy take on "Indian Giver", Flat T's huge rolling remix of the old school inspired "Here On My Own". And Disjointed Textures' hard-stepping version of "Tainted" isn't a release to take lightly. Now, all we've gotta do is wait patiently to see who gets the remix treatment.

Review: VIPS in the hole! Low Down Deep revisit a couple of recent bangers with some straight up fire updates that have been massive for the Low Down Deep crew. First up is last year's killer funk tear-up "Do Your Thang" from Subsonic with a bassline that now tells more of a story instead of hammers one single message. There's more than a touch of old Zinc to this. Flip for Jayline's "North Pole Cold VIP" where the two tone basslines merge with each other much more mischievously and the added cymbal splashes on the drums give a new burst of energy. Powerful stuff.

Review: It's another all-out, balls-against-the-wall savage session as Digital Terror unleash the fourth and final chapter of their half-decade celebration EP series. Konichi fires the starter gun with his gritty refix of Prestiges's fittingly titled "Hard" before up-and-comer Spaow takes the baton and runs with glitchy mischief. Further into the chaos we plunder with Dub Bezerka crushing Hoogs' "Heavy Mental" into a lean, minimal Phace-style neuro jump-up romp and Nu Elementz injecting an entire hornets nest into Telekom's "Nicky". Lowriderz have the honour of closing this epic, month-long anniversary mission with the roughest cut of the bunch: flipping Freek's "Kung Fu Is Banned" into a raw universal fighting talk, it's a suitably gnarly climax to a very well executed EP series. Bring on the 10 year celebrations.

Review: Long-time mates and sparring partners Jayline and Ruffstuff shoot out more radium rays with this crucial doublet on Jayline's Soundbully Audio. If you know the levels of trouble these two cats cause, you'll already know how vicious they are without pressing play... 'Mortals' is an immense piece of springy, savage sandpaper funk that rattles with crisp breaks, trippy samples and a bassline strong enough to electrocute you through the speakers. 'Speechless' maintains the gully factor with an equally naughty off-kilter bassline, swaggering drums and haunting vocals. Serious business.

Review: Send for the hazmats! Papa Gee's Hazardous Musik flies into town on the version express with a series of rudeboy rubdowns. It's a one-way-ticket scenario from the off as Choppah juices up the skank machine on his take on Jayline and Gee's "Dancehall Ram" and Serum finally unleashes one of his longest-awaited dubs in the form of his groaning take on D Livin's 92 proto jungle classic. Review: For his latest audio assault, jump-up maestro Jayline dons a suit and does his best Lord Sugar impression. The man himself would undoubtedly be pleased with the title track (a hook-up with pal GPS), whose rolling beats, warped sub and gritty electronic stabs are the aural equivalent of dishing out a kicking in the board room. There's a similarly surging, in-your-face feel about "Willow", where a creepy but picturesque breakdown offers light relief from the rampaging breaks and throbbing sub. Elsewhere, AC MC lends a hand on future jump-up anthems "I Don't Rate It" and "Chicken Press", while "What's Gonna Happen" is a pleasingly dark and murky tech-step roller.

'Down The Rabbit Hole' wobbles and shreds like an old time G-Dubs joint while 'Jabbawocky' goes in hard on the sandpaper stabs. Imagine doing a slow dance with a chainsaw and giving it the tongues and you're hitting the right g-spots. Bad to bone.
