DJ Terra & DJ PrimeTime - "Bun Dem" (Jedi remix) - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: Jedi renews his subscription to Reader's Wives with 'Full Mag'. Top shelf filth in all directions, this will get many dancefloors hot under the collar over the coming months. Beyond Jedi's love for magazines, we have more utterly gruesome tear-ups to settle... 'The Sound' rouses up the feels string-surged drama and Belgian flavoured high frequencies and 'Hey Baby' leaves us feeling so giddy Jedi shoves us in a spin dryer then makes us walk home with a blindfold on. Finally we're treated to a remarkable remix of DJ Terra & DJ PrimeTime's 'Bun Dem' as he weaves an ethereal vocal around one of his most venomous basslines. Read all about it!

Review: Hey pal! You want beef? You got it! Dubstomp 2 Bass shove their greasy middle fingers up at convention and have a big old 'BBQ' in the middle of winter. Warming us up with every sizzling steak and every crucial chop, head chefs at this bass banquet are Jedi, Composure, Toal, Nowa and DJ Terra. Each of them bringing their own special marinade and secret spices, everything is ready for the feast of the season as we chow down on highlights like the warping, weirded-out 'Drunk Uncle', the high fibre fire of 'Tasty Burger' and the spicy, steppy fusions of 'Buckwild Brisket'. Yum.

Artist Series Vol1 Jedi
Alien Intelligents - (4:23) 175 BPM
As If - (4:24) 175 BPM Hot
Review: New label Rebellion kicks off with a brand new artist series and it launches with the one like Jedi. A hugely prolific artist over recent years - usually spotted serving up EPs that weigh over five or six tracks - here Rebellion reduce him down to two undiluted, heavyweight bangers. 'Alien Intelligence' is a sharp and spiky stepper laced with tension and dramatic splashes of strings. 'As If' booms with more swagger, big burping basslines and sudden twists into a sunny-side funk. Join the Rebel Alliance today!

Dont Want You - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: Time for a little splish splash show as Jedi gets his bathers on and takes us down the 'Hydra'. 'Cold' sees us jumping in at the deep end with a very cheeky sample lurking at the bottom of the pool. 'Georgia' turns on the wave machine and gets wild with its pared back bass/beats combo before the title track tsunamis us all out of the building with its big horn drama and pant wettingly gnarly drop. Finally we head to the changing room for the grizzly blazes of 'Don't Want You'. Swim when you're winning.

Weird Tits - (4:30) 175 BPM
Review: Super-prolific Jedi lands on burgeoning imprint Drum Lab Audio. The results speak for themselves... 'Crazy Monk' hits with that quirky, off-beat riff style that Jedi's made himself known for before we hurtle into a swirling pool of vibes and experiments. 'Betrayal' is a classic early 2000s Bristol style bumper, 'Get Nicer' shows off Jedi's junglist leanings in a slinky, purring steppy way while 'Weird Tits' closes the EP with a heartfelt nod to your old dear by way of a grizzly, wobbled-out bassline. Classic Jedi manoeuvres.

Top Of The World (feat MC Weedy) - (4:27) 175 BPM
Review: Straight out of Walsall and straight into our sets and hearts; Jedi has been a jump-up tour de force in recent years, and this humungous five-tracker is no exception. 'Rich & Sexy' sets the tone instantly with its sweeping harmonic bassline sliding up and down the scale. The grit and drama continues throughout 'Let Him DJ' grunts and bumps with a slug-like bassline, 'Energy' is stripped right back to the grizzles and features a sexy vocal sample while 'Don't Run' goes back to the raucous styles of the late 00s with its savage widescreen riff. Last but not least MC Weedy joins the fray for the grand bassline finale. Bang!

Review: Someone fetch this man a ladder! Jedi needs to get higher and he's paying us in absolute fire tunes. One of his most generous EPs in quite some time, over six tracks the artist spreads his wings across the spectrum; 'Lay You Out' is Program-style bubbler with a fine balance of emotion and grit, the mischievously-titled 'Piss On Your Ashes' is a hurricane of jump-up grizzles and growls while the title track rips up the dance like some turn-of-the-century D*Minds Bristol effort. And that's only 50% of the rawness on display here. Bun the ladder, this man deserves a cherry picker.

Blazing Fire - (4:26) 175 BPM
Played by: Juno Download
Review: Call the emergency services! Jedi returns with a 'Blazing Fire' and it's getting out of control! 'Hear Me Talking' is the accelerant he poured liberally over the blaze by way of savage staccato bass hits. The weirdo wobbles of 'Do Some Damage' is the sonic equivalent of whole XXXL box of matches he's thrown into the blend just for the lols while the switchy wriggles and stripped back funk of 'Badguy' is him admitting to his arson but smiling giving zero effs about it. Finally we reach the inferno itself; 'Blazing Fire' hits with fat horn-based bass burps and more heat, brazen audacity and naughtiness than a shamed celeb caught frolicking out of lockdown rules. Heaters for your tweeters.

Review: Having marched right into the year on Dubstomp 2 Bass on January 1st, young Jedi dusts off his sabre once again for his second outing of 2021, this time on another regular stomping ground of his: Nuclear Bass. As always with Jedi, the vibe covers the entire spectrum while remaining rooted in his spiky dancefloor sound. 'Yeah Boy' takes a classic vocal and manipulates it around a vibrant arpeggio, 'Shapes' is a skittering, jittering bass wriggler, 'Watch You Back' is a gnarly slap-out banger of the pack while DEEb collaboration 'You're Dead' closes the EP with pure drama and aggression. Throw some shapes.

Killer Vibez - (4:27) 175 BPM
Review: Dubstomp 2 Bass are without a doubt one of the strongest jump up labels around at the moment and their output is so damn consistent, with almost a new release every week. This week it's the turn of Jedi, a regular on the label, and, this release is a four-tracker chracterised by its sheer veracity. With crisp drums and a tumbling percussive line, 'Bald Fuck' rolls out in style, hitting punches and stealing packed lunches left right and centre, with a really original, complex approach to make interlinked basses. The madness continies on the other three, and 'Ball Washer' is especially potent, with slicing basslines that cut through the air with untrammelled ferocity. Proper tunes these - no messing around, but then again what would you expect from this label?

Come On - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Dutty Bass Audio tend to deliver rough, urban-edged sounds that don't prance around or act fancy, they just get down and dirty. Jedi has delivered exactly that here, with a four-track EP of moody tones and no-nonsense drum lines. 'Quench Your Thirst' is a perfect example of said drums, with impossibly clean hits and a clear sense of space and progression, its bass stabs are almost shadowed out. 'I Would LIke' is the most futuristic, with a deep back end and seriously cool synth spasms that lend it a techier feel than the other cuts on the EP. The other two are equally top-draw - make sure to check these.

Review: Next up from the Audio Overload gang we jump into this well thought out four track selection from Jedi & Instag8, who deliver a range of flavours with some very well welcomed guests. We begin our journey with Instag8's 'Angels', a sizzling system smashing bounce, combining angelic vocal lines with lethal bass processing and high energy breaks, before Jedi brings a much more jump up-inspired synthetic approach with his remix. Following this, Jedi joins forces with Licks Latore for 'One Girl', an LFO driven ball of bassy madness, topped with euphoric pad lines and well processed rhythmic ideas. To round off, Instag8 sends this one to the chopping block with his mash up remix, layering in numerous lazer-like synthesizer lines to add an extra layer of intensity throughout.

Review: The 'Mothership' has landed, Jedi's the captain and there are more than enough seats for all of us to join the ride. Our adventure kicks off with 'Car Monkeys' and a sample of the cutest sweary kid you've seen on YouTube. Loaded with an equally cute synth riff, there's more than enough euphoria to scare the primates off your wheels. 'Spread 'Em' is a grimier cut. All swaggers and big melty bass but occasional flashes of synths and police brutality. 'Give Me' is flips for a lighter footed vibe with the breakbeats and pitched up vocal sample before 'Mothership' takes off for the grand finale with its rockets powered by grunting bass, rolling breaks and more crisp synth work. Review: Audio Overload who have developed a reputation for going in all guns blazing, having released a string of releases over many years which don't play nice with your feelings. Now, they're launching the second part of their Jacked compilations series and it's top quality, with sounds that span a wide variety of styles, from rolling stuff to dirty naughtiness. 'Nuclear Inspectors' by Falco is definitely in the latter category and it's definitely one of the best on the release, with a cavernous bassline of spinning twirls and a pulsating epicentre that pushes out the rest of the track in a slick fashion. One to cop, this.

Review: Woi! Audio Overload invite a bunch of mates around for their biggest V/A EP to date. Jedi, Parasite, Falco and Midst all on one release and all sounding fine: Jedi takes the lead with a deeper example of his repertoire on the Die-style swing of 'Feels Naughty', Parasite goes all bubbly and Dread bass style on the rolling bruk-up 'Big Up', Falco brings the sunny-side skank vibes on the dubwise 'Business Deal' before Midst brings things to a powerful close with 'War Dogz'. A big subby hummer with a dusty old soul sample on it, this rattles with authenticity right down to the bones. Take it back, pay it forward...

Nothing but positivity, it sets us up for the rest of the EP: the strident euphoria of 'Sleepless Nights', the star-gazing, trance-like synth arpeggios of 'Shake Money Make' and the prize piece of the feast; 'Spiritwalker'. If you like raising your hands really high and feeling goosebumps, or you're a spiritwalker yourself, or you just adore sudden trippy bass drops, this one's for you. Don't walk away from this.

Review: The force returns... Super prolific UK producer Jedi is back on Dubstomp 2 Bass with four slabs of peaktime batterage. 'Dance For Me' starts the engine with big bulbous bass licks and shades of classic rave on the hook. It's backed up by three equally stinking pieces; 'Kick Yo Ass Style' fuses up a whole array of sounds from sizzling bassline to jungle breaks, 'LaLa Land' gets all trippy with a playful vocal sample and some of Jedi's smelliest bass textures imaginable while 'Mans Bait' gets all sinister, paranoid and gritty for a dark finale. Review: Strength in numbers! The ever-heavy, ever-ready Dubstomp 2 Bass family unite once again for the second instalment of their DS2B Collective series. Familiar faces all the way as we're reminded of how forthright and firesome the label's output is; Jedi brings his signature dancefloor weight and trippiness with cuts like "Donald Duck", DEEb brings the emotions and subversive dynamics with and Falco's epic "Hysteria", Lowlife gets twisted with his moaning, groaning basslines with his contributions (especially "The Other Side") while newcomer Mudlark follows up his single earlier this summer with the almighty trouser-blazer "Be A Mudlark". And that's just the tip of this gully iceberg.

Review: Jedi is one of the most consistent jump-up producers around and has been pumping out the venom across a load of labels, including Dubstomp2Bass and more, for several years now. He's back with this five-tracker on Raw Motion and it's Jedi at his best, stretching his legs out in dastardly style across pounding beats and just letting loose with every fibre of his creative being. We especially love the sampling on 'Is It True', which acts as a perfect backdrop to the ensuing steppy madness, with groaning stabs peppering the arrangement and forming a formidable club-ready weapon. The knives stay out on 'Say It', whilst title tune 'Break You' combines stabbing force with wobblier sounds to great effect. Naughty.

Review: The dust has barely settled from his Instig8 collabs and Jedi is back on Raw Motion. This time he's packing a whole brace of bangers of his own. As always, it's a broadsword selection that runs the whole gully gamut. "Mark Of Shame" is a subversive, slightly deeper jam from the young producer while "Masters Of Death" is pure mid 2000s riot flavours. Elsewhere "Magic Lamp" rubs you up the right way with its epic dancefloor-style intro and drop into vicious staccato riffage before "Mechanical Psychopath" closes the show on a wonky stripped back ruffhouse tip. Masterful.

Each act has several contributions, an unusual but welcome format, and Jedi's part-roller-part-jungle track 'All I See' is an especially potent addition to the mix. Longtime producer Falco makes a fiery contribution with the choppy yet heavy VIP of 'Beerpong Contest', and L-Motive finishes things off with the growly, wobbly 'Sublime'. Wicked.

Review: Dubstomp 2 Bass is an extremely prolific label that seemingly has a release out every other day, which makes it more impressive that all of them seem to hit the nail on the head. That nail is on the shape of messed-up (in a good way) jump-up, something Jedi, a regular on the label, clearly excels at making. 'No You Aint' doesn't have the tightest sound design in the world but I can't imagine Hamses really cares all that much, instead he's made a rough and heavy dancefloor tune that'll go down well anywhere. 'My Time' opens up with some menacing, suspenseful synths on the introduction which quickly flip into a wave of distortion and dirt, wrapping themselves around the drums in an injection of funk. Sick ep and shout out to Skelta for his sick bars throughout.

Review: Kevlar Beas release some of the best compilations around, partly because they have a large contingent of affiliated artists to draw upon but mostly just because the curation team over there is top-notch. The aptly named Strength in Numbers features a load of acs from Quaa Rush to DJ Direkt, the former of which is responsible for 'Vecran', which packs a great, old-school and funky drum line and bouncy, soulful bass nodes which warp and wobble through a really cool arrangement. Danny Anger nails it with the soul-infused jungle vibes of 'Tallies Side Step', and this release in general combines loads of different pallettes to great effect. Fantastic.

Jedi - "Dracula" (Midst remix) - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: Midst and Jedi is somewhat of a fiery combination, the pair of them together packing a sound that, more often than not, is downright dirty. No Man is a vindication of that and the selection throughout this release is so on-point and so in-touch with current styles of D&B it's a little absurd, you can almost picture the videos on Facebook as each of these drop. 'Maybe' is the unique one of the bunch, a steppy cut that chops and changes the whole way through; the Midst remix of 'Dracula' is our favourite, its wobbling sub-bass riff guides you down into a steam-train bassline that sounds a lot like a Serum cut or similar. The other cuts are also all definitely worth your time.

The title track is refreshingly heavy, creative bass work and stepping drum smacks forming archways of diving bass force, a joy to listen to and we'd imagine pretty devastating on the dancefloor. 'Sweet Gun' sees Jedi on familiar territory - naughty jump up that makes you want to hit your nan. 'Boner' is different again, a pummelling, fluid back end laid out beneath a rolling set of drums. Review: Jedi is back, using his force to compel you to pull ugly bassfaces and throw your drink with an EP that doesn't hold back. Its not the kindest on the ears but then again it's not supposed to be, it's a monograph in hard-hitting sonics and dastardly tones. 'John Spartan' is undergirded by a booming snare drum and percussive clarity, but the action happens in the steadily melodic but still raucous bassline, a pitched-up monstrosity of dancefloor proportions. The others feature more big synths, but with emphasis instead on forward movement and serene rapidity - top release.

Review: Jedi is a regular on Dubstomp 2 Bass and we can see why, his tendency to create hard hitting beats is well known and he's utterly consistent in doing so. One Step Ahead is his latest EP and it's a stormer, shown off well in 'Itty Bitty', featuring Reeality, which packs a diving, rolling bassline and some meaty vocal work from the MC. 'Jelly Leg' sees a return to Jedi's jump-up prowess, as does title track 'One Step Ahead', a grating, choppy number with wicked chord progression. Banging stuff.

Review: A collection of artists land on Audio Overload this week for a jump-up release that genuinely stands out from the crowd. There's a lot of competition in this field at the moment and quite a few releases which aren't up to scratch or don't differentiate themselves enough to get noticed properly. They do both here and it makes for a rip-roaring release that'll have you clenching your fists and scrunching your face with regularity. 'Free It VIP' is just astonishingly powerful, its synths aren't anything new but the force that emanates out from them suggests some seriously good production value. 'Make My Day' is the roller of the bunch and, packing with movement, its momentum is just unstoppable. Top release.

Review: Jedi is one of the most frequent contributors to Dubstomp 2 Bass, the Midlands-based jump-up imprint that doesn't take no for an answer. This time though he's back with an eight-tracker, a sort of halfway-house between an album and EP that actually works out at the perfect length. It's called Devil's Anus and the title track is the best cut of them all, a wobbly, gyrating cut that is relentless in its formidable monotony and which somehow manages to get better and better as it goes on. The rest of the album is textbook Jedi and our other favourite is 'They Don't Know', a sick little bit of production creativity - go check it.

Jedi is back on the imprint and Fuck The Police features the tones of MC Reeality on all four cuts, each of them dripping with the type of energy that's made jump-up so popular at the moment. Our favourite is probably 'Murky', a gargling tune that squelches its way around the range, undercut by a skippy but forceful percussive line. The title track is another highlight, MC Reeality doing especially well with some rapid spits over a wavey amalgamation of bass force. More good work from these guys.

Review: Jedi is on the aptly named Dubstomp 2 Bass for a riotous EP of provincial jump-up that hits you in the face and spits on your unconscious body as it walks away. Featuring Joe Blow on vocals, 'Buss Mics' kicks off the EP with a squelching, synthy introduction that underpins menacing vocal overtones and a rambunctious bassline. 'Run Tings' edges out some loping halftime beats as the vocal takes on more of a reggae feel that's flushed away on the drop by a stream of gurgling energy. 'Warning' injects a bit of funk into this EP with its fluid arrangement and infectious wobbles and, finishing off the EP, 'Green', a breath of fresh air with its instrumentation and steppy, halftime build that explodes on the drop. If you're into your jump-up, don't miss this one.

DJ Jedi has been DJing since 1996 and producing since 2000. Originally based in Bournemouth, then London and now living in Brighton, he was among the first hardcore breaks producers to start making early '90s style hardcore during the 'old skool' revival - with several popular releases on the Back To The Old Skool label. He teams up here with Leicester's Weejii for a collection of tough steppers on the MC Bully EP, which are definitely influenced by the sounds of the late '90's but with a distinctly modern perspective.

"Goth Girls" gets messy over a stripped back and heavily swung swagger jam, "Bullet Dodger" takes us straight to Belgium on a rocket of lasers, "Kiss Her Pussy" takes us down town with Jedi's sharpest and funniest vocal sample/drop combos ever. Finally we have "Play That Track" that hits and heaves a Majistrate style wide armed synth riff. Kiss kiss bang banger.

Review: Time for a stomping session: prolific banger flinger Jedi returns to D2B once again and this time he's rolling deep with venom tongued MC Skelta. Each cut reps both players with scorching energy and pace. "Get My Hype" sees Skelta double timing for his life over a smash glass riddim, "Love The Bass" is all about the Maji-style Q&A bass riff while "Psycho" lives up to its name with a straight-up sandpaper funk roughhouse hook. Last but not least "You Not Ready" gives Skelta the centre stage as he raises tension on the build to one of Jedi's swampiest, grottiest drops to date. Don't make these guys angry.
