Review: "Buggin"" was the first single from Hot Since 82"s 8-track album project, released back in 2018. Featuring the fine vocal talents of Jem Cooke, the track was inspired by the distinct brand of early noughties house music that he"s said to love. Four years on, we"re treated to a bunch of fine new versions here: whether it"s Jorhav"s slinky and hypnotic remix, UR2wo"s rework is a throwback to the evocative progressive breaks sound of the late "90s, while Svan Code"s re-rub tackles the main room at peak time with its tough rolling tech house groove. Elsewhere, Emma Forster"s rendition will get the hands in the air with her uplifting house perspective.

Review: Earlier in the year Audiojack teased their forthcoming second album, Surface Tension - their first full-length excursion for 12 years - with a pleasingly off-kilter and bass-heavy cut featuring an atmospheric vocal from Kevin Knapp. 'Feels Good', which features storied singer Jem Cooke, is also taken from Surface Tension. It's arguably even better than its predecessor, with Cooke's delay-laden vocals riding crunchy drum machine percussion, ghostly chords and a restless, rolling electronic bassline. The accompanying Patrice Baumel remix is simply stunning, too, with twinkling piano motifs and atmospheric stabs rising above a smoother but weightier, kick-drum driven groove. As it progresses, Baumel introduces sparkling synths and richer chords, taking an already excellent track into the stratosphere.

Review: Following well-supported singles on Simma Black, Madtech, DFTD and Toolroom, tech-house stalwart Made By Pete makes his bow on powder house megalith Crosstown Rebels. In its original form, "So Long" is something of a humid and intoxicating treat, with Jem Cooke's ethereal vocals seemingly drifting above a humid, feverish backing track rich in shuffling, tribal-influenced drums and a booming bassline reminiscent of Jaydee classic "Plastic Dreams". Solomun steps up to remix first, giving the track a more obviously electronic feel and intoxicating tech-house vibe, before Audiojack makes it bigger, bolder and brassier. Bonus cut "Modify Saturn", a deep Afro-tech cut blessed with dense percussion, nagging electronics and suitably stretched-out breakdowns, is also impressive.
