Super-shimmering vibes from Lithuanian producer Basanov on this release: "More For Less" is a purring piece of disco that doesn't sound too far away from fellow Eastern European electro boogie peddler Illija Rudman. Coated with Canadian vocalist Jeremy Glenn's emphatic vocal, it's an instant soul smoocher. Remix-wise Mario provides his own more stripped back underground house twist, Pablo and Maurice serve up a subtle early Get Physical style Euro version and Michael J Collins presses the 'weird' button as we drift in a laidback Mushroom Jazz style groove. Beautiful.
Toronto-based producer Jeremy Glenn has enjoyed an undulating, stop-start career. He enjoyed a productive 2013, though, and here delivers a storming start to 2014. Opener "Wait For The Night" is deep, rolling and smooth, with knowing nods to Mood II Swing-era US garage and the wide-eyed bagginess of Benoit & Sergio. Glenn lets his vocals take centre stage on the similarly warm and woozy "Jump The Fire", which has a distinctive Art Department-meets-Junior Boys feel about it. J Wiltshire's remix is curiously distant, druggy and full of wonky analogue charm; a far cry from his garage-flecked efforts for Hypercolour. Finally, "Loving You" bobs and weaves attractively, wrapping fluid chords and vocals around a typically bumpin' bassline.
