Review: It is fair to say by now that Leeds based rising star Jey Kurmis is a true staple of Jamie Jones' Hot Creations - he's amassed several releases on the label in the last year or so. The three cuts offered up on his new Jessycat EP are aimed squarely at afterhours dancefloors: from the deep, druggy and bouncing title track, to the seething bass driven assault of "Vanstone" which layers a few levels of nifty low end business over its 4/4 shuffle. Our favourite of the bunch though was his collaboration with Belgian duo Nukov & Yelmet (Moon Harbour/Deeperfect) entitled "Fien" which packs the most punch of the bunch. With its dense kick, ravey stabs and cheeky rap vocals atop: this one's sure to bang the party!

Review: Manchester's Kaluki music are back and present Leeds boy and rising star Jey Kurmis this time, Kurmis has had a run of killer releases on Hot Creations, Moonharbour and Exploited of late. Kurmis' brand of druggy Late night groove is in fine form on this ep. The wobbly and trippy title track is redolent of mid noughties freak'n chic while "Margot" is proper and gutsy dance floor fodder with its grinding arpeggio bassline doing the business.

Review: Leeds based upstart Jey Kurmis is back on Hot Creations for some adrenalised tech house jams that certainly don't skimp on the funk. The title track certainly works the suspense by building on that tightly programmed rhythm, but just you wait until the bassline comes rushing in; it's a killer! Label head honcho Jamie Jones lends a nice re-edit to the track "Farno" which certainly gets a stomp on in terrific fashion. Final track "Monie" is definitely the most minimal and restrained effort on here, probably our favourite too: as it reminds us of classic mid noughties Jamie Jones stuff on Freak N Chic, funnily enough!

Review: Matthias Tanzmann's Moon Harbour out of Leipzig is still going and delivering surefire tech house. This time it's Leeds producer Jey Kurmis stepping up for the label. He teams up with Nukov and Yelmet for some rolling, minimal tech house on "Refresh". Secondly "De Greave" is a druggy after-hours groove that reminds us of Jamie Jones' earlier material. While final track "Fourtunes" is probably the strongest track on here; once again more suited to the pre peak-time or after party but it'll set the dance floor alight with that funky bassline and tight reductionist groove.

Review: Given that Leeds-based Jey Kurmis has been doing this thing for the best part of a decade with only moderate success, this EP for Hot Creations is a great opportunity. Pleasingly, it's one he's grasped with both hands, delivering four tracks that ripple with late night intent. Lead cut "Lil' Nic French" - a hazy mixture of undulating, tech-tinged beats, fluid synth motifs and heavyweight bottom end - sets the tone, before "La Shazz" delivers a bouncy fusion of growling electronics, wonky vocal stabs and fuzzy rave stabs. "Lover" is a thrilling cowbell-laden assault built around swinging, off-kilter percussion and more odd vocal hits, while closer "Miss Readi" is a prime chunk of exotic deep house funk.
