Review: Following the release of Part 15 during the summer, Innervisions drop the latest secret weapons that feature in Dixon and Ame's sets. With a focus on vocals and woozy melodies, this collection captures the energy of the Innervisions owners' DJing. A case in point is the flowing groove and haunting tones of Ivory & Filippo Nardini's "Could You Feel The Love" or Hardt Antoine's woozy, acid-frazzled and appropriately named "Inside Your Mind". On other occasions, the collection veers close to pop territory, audible on the electronic groove of Cipy's "Trip" or flirts with 80s synth pop and electronic disco on Samantha Loveridge's "The Pusher". But no matter the direction, like all previous selections, Secret Weapons 16 makes for essential listening.

Review: Jimi Jules drops his latest EP titled 'Free Bird', released via Life and Death Records. The four tracks featured on the release were written during the same sessions as his 2022 album '+', released on Innervisions. Each track encapsulates Jules' signature sound; a mix of hands-in-the-air anthems, chaotic house bangers, deep burners and contemplative moments. Overall, it showcases the Swiss producer's versatility and is a testament to his musical prowess, making it a must-listen for fans of global house and techno. It features the mesmerising and uplifting journey of the title track, the low slung funk groove of "Lil Dirty", while "Speed Meditation" is a good stomper for those heads down moments, and finally "Touched By Silence" sees him save the best for last on this glassy-eyed and bittersweet number that's perfect to drop at sunrise.

Review: For the 13th time, Dixon has delved into the "unreleased gems" folder on his USB stick and chosen some Secret Weapons to share with Innervisions' fanatical followers. It's a bumper selection this time round too, with no less than 13 previously unheard club workouts to enjoy. The plentiful highlights include, but are no way limited to, the bleeping, electro-clash-goes-tech-house throb of 'Heart Transplant' by David Kochs, the warming wonder that is Woo York's 'Bohemia' (which sounds like Moby's classic remix of Pet Shop Boys 'Miserablism' re-imagined for the Innervisions generation), the hushed late-night sleaze of 'Ruby' by Jonathan Kaspar, and the trance-inducing, big-room ready bustle of Dominik Markz's 'Object in the Mirror'

Review: "Ham The Monkey" is German producer Jimi Jules' third EP for Innversions, following up 2019's "Fool" and "Karma Baby". A concept EP, Jules tributes the music here to Ham the Astrochimp, a chimpanzee and the first hominid launched into space. In 1961, Ham flew aboard the Mercury-Redstone 2 mission, part of the U.S. space program's Project Mercury. From the evocative feelings of opening cut "Don't Take It Personally" which is very much in the Innervisions aesthetic, late night mood music is catered for with the sensual deep house of "Grumpy Monkey" while the seething energy of closing track "Tinnitus" is the typical style of dancefloor drama you've come to expect from Ame & Dixon's label.

Review: Berlin institution Watergate Records celebrates its 10 year birthday, with this special 50 track anthology of their favourite records. Over the last decade, the imprint has set a standard for captivating electronic music from across the house and techno spectrum, successfully mirroring the club's booking policy. Now up to over 60 releases including a remix of the Josh Wink classic "Higher State Of Consciousness" by residents Adana Twins, and the 26th installment in their acclaimed mix series by Danish legends Whomadewho - this compilation presents some of its most memorable cuts since its inception in 2008. Highlights come from: label staple Mathias Meyer - the Hanseatic hero presenting several tracks including "Love Letters From Sicily" with Ryan Davis, local legends Tiefschwarz on "Fire It Out" feat. Ruede Hagelstein, resident La Fleur getting remixed by Detroit legend Kenny Larkin on "Nightflow" and rising duo Adriatique's 7am remix of "The Spirit" by the ever impressive Butch (featuring Hohberg) amony many others.

Review: Jimi Jules has released material on Watergate and Defected, but his debut EP on Innervisions sounds removed from those labels. There's the buzzing, frazzled electro of "End of the World", while on the title track, he slips into deep, dubbed out techno. Clearly, Jules is a master of re-invention and on "We Out Here" and "Future Is Now", the Swiss producer veers into the kind of twitchy, stripped back house sound that Innervisions is more synonymous with. However, this is not a typical release, and "Last Muuh Before Paradise", with its live bass, sonorous brass and micro beats is an unusual foray into left field house.

Mysterious dancefloor drama is guaranteed on the deep and moody acid trip entitled "Abandoned Soul" (his contribution to the mix) which receives a brooding and epic rework by Plangent main man Recondite - taking the track deeper into the late night when the strobe light and smoke machine will accompany it just perfectly. Closing track "Othervision" is a soulful and slo-mo tech house cut, that's perfect to lead into the morning hours just before the lights come on.

Review: Jimi Jules is one of the main DJs at Berlin club Watergate and it's true to say that he leaves his mark on this mix: 13 of the 21 tracks are edits, remixes or original productions from the Swiss selector. That said, he also leaves space for other artists: Porn Sword Tobacco's dreamt "B1" segues nearly into Jules' own "Gare de Lion", while the live funk of "Caldo", one of the tracks from Keope's 2016 album, also makes a seamless transition into Jules & Domenico Ferrari's stripped back vocal track, "Parkuhr". There are multiple such moments on Watergate 24, and its eclectic feel is typified by tracks from Aphex Twin and DJ Koze, electronic music's most eccentric acts.

Review: It seems as if 15 years have just flown by since Berlin institution Watergate first opened their doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrucke, overlooking the River Spree and where long queues run down the street every weekend to get into one of the best clubs in the world. To celebrate their journey over the last decade and a half, they have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks. Residents of the superclub all appear, such as Hamburg native Matthias Meyer who teams up with Ryan Davis on the evocative "Hope", famed local duo Tiefschwarz deliver the slow burning and moody tech house of "Control", Sweden's La Fleur (of Power Plant fame) delivers the acidic bump and shuffle of "Femton" and former Stattbad resident and Beste Modus boss Cinthie gets deep on the classic house sound of "Hatschi Hatschi" which has a whole heap of swing to it!

Review: This fine EP gathers together four previously unreleased exclusives from the latest edition of Cocoon's Dots & Pearls series, which was mixed by Markus Fix. His contribution to the EP, "Baroon" - a kind of contemporary re-imagining of the original 1988 version of The KLF's "What Time Is Love" with extra TB303 acid lines - is undoubtedly one of the highlights, alongside the ethereal melodies and early morning fuzz of Argy's intoxicating "How Late It Was, How Late". Elsewhere, Christian Burkhardt peppers a rolling house groove with boisterous but blissful stabs on "Karambolage", and Jimi Jules serves up a loose and languid take on the foreboding, stretched-out Innervisions tech-house sound ("Euphrasia").

Review: It's that time again where Dixon, Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann serve up another edition of their Secret Weapons series which always lives up to its name; just they aren't that secret anymore thankfully! As always the Innervisions camp present a real mix up of names from across the board of house and techno and there's some pleasant surprises once again. Starting off with Belgian tech house heroes Raw District with the brooding and suspense filled "From The Inside" which is the kind of track you could really imagine Dixon playing to a festival crowd. Berlin legend Oliver Deutschmann (Falkplatz/Vidab) with the dreamy and hypnotic "Control" was great too. Elsewhere there's Southern German merchant of dark journey tracks Tim Engelhardt representing the new garde (alongside Bog) with "No More Words" featuring some wonky synth leads and minimal techno legend Marc Houle with the cheeky retro EBM jack of "Tomboyz". Honourable mention to the Valence/Delft affiliated GoldFfinch with the tough reductionist techno jam "The Hidden"

Review: Swiss producer Jimi Jules has a small but perfectly formed discography. Within it, you'll find collaborations with Berlin-based big hitter Oliver $, as well as releases on both Defected and Watergate. Equinox is his debut album, and sees him successfully expand his musical repertoire beyond the club-ready deep house he's known for. Thanks to the use of musicians - drummers, guitarists and such-like - there's a loose, warm and quietly soulful feel throughout. Highlights include the dusty, tech-tinged deep house shuffle of the effortlessly soulful "Lost Love", the head-nodding, trumpet-laden modern soul warmth of "Too Young For Me", the Innervisions style atmosphere of "Truth Light", and the dubby, dusty-eyed stumble of immaculate closer "Sirup".

Review: Watergate Affairs is a brand new music series from the Berlin superclub. Music will be featured by residents or regulars who have become closely affiliated with the club over the recent years. Moreover, these handpicked artists will "perfectly display the sound of Watergate". First up is Zurich's Jimi Jules who presents us with the dark journey track "1.6%" with that buzzy, wonky synth lead and mysterious atmosphere: Life & Death eat your heart out. Berlin legend Lee Jones, the British ex-pat who you may remember for his collaboration with Nick Hoppner as My My is back with "Fraction Disco (Metro edit)" a sexy and bouncy tech house workout that is guaranteed for hands in the air moments. But it's their most well known resident La Fleur who really impresses with "Waves" where the Swede gives us a driving and emotional journey track with a humming sub bass and tight rhythm that you could imagine setting off a frenzy at peak time on that killer sound system.
