Review: 25 years in the game! The world's longest-standing D&B platform continues to represent drum & bass culture in the best and most upfront way possible with this incredible collection of tracks from right across the whole scene. Loaded with legends and new generation cats alike, with all ages and styles in between, the album ranges from the likes of Bukem's first release in many years - 'Flip The Narrative' to J Majik's hardcore-heaving 'Blake' by way of Bcee & Dynamite's 'Run', A.M.C's carnivalesque 'Brazil' and Visages & Kyrist's squelchy, dark funk piece 'Mirai'. These are just some of the many, many highlights on offer. With names like Particle, Digital & Charla Green, Ben Snow, Athena, Trex and so many more, this is a fantastic way to celebrate a quarter of a century in the game. Here's to the next 25 years.
Review: Drum&Bass Arena: The longest-standing, and one of the most respected, platforms for all things jungle D&B celebrates an impressive 20 years in the game with this ridiculously hefty document that pays respect to the genre's every twist and turn. From scene-shattering megahits ("Tarantula", "Feel The Love", "Rock It", "Afterglow") to unarguable historical underground scene-smashing megabangers ("Machete", "Aztec", "Nasty Ways", "The View", "Champion Sound", "Turbulence", "Up All Night", "Deadline", Ram Trilogy's remix of "Pacman") by way of tracks that may have slipped under the radar ("Defcom 69", "What's Wrong", "Song For Lovers") the whole album is loaded to the lips with some of the most important records the genre's enjoyed in the last 20 years. Time to get nostalgic, time to fill those holes in your collection, time to educate your dancefloor. Here's to another 20 years!
Review: Berkshire drum and bass legend and Beta Recordings head honcho John B is back! The man notorious for his crazy hair-doos as much as he is for coining the term 'electro-step', there's no doubt his contributions to the drum and bass sound over the last 20 odd years have been significant. To commemorate the 18th anniversary of his seminal Visions album, it gets remastered with a whole bunch of bonus tracks for your enjoyment. Includes the Moog mix of his incredible collaboration with DJ SS "Slamfunk". There are a whopping 49 tracks on offer here including bonus tracks of his Vangelis style drum and bass synth odyssey "Starburst and loads of brilliant extended and alternative versions of his revered "Jazz Session' series of liquid drum and bass explorations.
Cheers; here's to another 20 years John B!
