Review: Ellum Audio presents a powerful dance floor selection on a new sampler curated by label head Maceo Plex. For Part 2, Ibiza-based producer and DJ John Monkman showcases his prowess with "Talking Heads", a sublime blend of futuristic synth and steel-edged drums. 8-Bit Culprit, the techno alias of Faraz Ehsan from India, delivers the electrifying "Refurbished Robots", taking dancers to the heart of an otherworldly dancefloor with its nebulous pads and cosmic flex. The collaborative duo Headwaters from Turkey present the slick tech house number "Eternal Madness", while Danish DJ Christian Nielsen concludes V3 with the dark dance floor punisher, "Liberate", featuring neck-snapping snares and haunting vocals. Already receiving acclaim from Maceo Plex at major events, this compilation promises to be a standout highlight of the summer.

Review: La Fleur is on a roll; having worked with Sasha and completed an Essential Mix, she now turns her attention to a release on Kompakt's Speicher offshoot. "Tears" is based on a bubbly groove and tumbling drums, with a melody unfolding over these elements. If you listen close enough, it's possible to discern a vocal sample buried deep in the arrangement - marking "Tears" out as a truly evocative pieces of music. On the flip side, John Monkman teams up with James Monro for "Pesto Funk"; a slinky slice of tripped out techno funk punctuated by sonic belches, it's in stark contrast to La Fleur's melancholic approach.

Review: The German label is 12 this year, but as it faces into its teenage life, it retains the same hunger for new music. Get Physical owner DJ T delivers one of the compilation's highlights, a stab-heavy techy take on John Tejada's "Timebomb". Like a slowed down take of Dave Clarke's "Red 2" infused with disco riffs, it sets a high watermark. Nonetheless, T faces stiff opposition from The Martinez Brothers, whose "Issshhh" is all tough percussive volleys and insistent chords, like a tough take on Levon Vincent. Elsewhere, new acts like Siopis and Gorge impress with drum-heavy tools, while old hands Tiefschwarz deliver a spaced out, bleep-heavy version of John Monkman's "Follow Me".
