"Handle This" bursts with peak-time energy, featuring classic bass tones and an infectious vocal hook that lingers in the head long after the track ends. "Synthesizer" showcases the power of simplicity, with a captivating vocal engulfed by some heavy low end, while rounding off the EP is "Lost Dub" which strips back a slice of house music to its core, offering a perfect addition to lovers of the afterparty and hypnotic groove.

Review: Josh Baker has proven himself adept at crafting the sort of tracks that manage to stand out from the crowd and that's exactly what he does here with a new EP on Burnski's always excellent Constant Black label. Title track 'Sometimes Cap' kicks off and is a loose but driving cut with snares flapping away over lovely drum funk. 'Some Of That' gets its head down and heads on into the night with eerie pads and acid gurgles next to paranoid vocal mutterings. 'Repeat Business' then gets buys on more tight drum programming and fresh sound design and last of all, 'Chesire Badger' picks up the pace with a spooky cosmic vibe.

Review: The next drop on Constant Sound sees Josh Baker and Alfie Jack team up following their excellent joint outing on Aesthetic earlier this year. We open up with a seductive blend of minimal tech beats and plush, trance-licked synths on "Conquest Of Time", which is promptly followed up by the leaner, heads-down grooves of "5am Club" for the deeper dancefloor contingent. "Shake Effect" is a feisty offering with a bassy strut, snappy samples and lashings of atmospheric FX, and then "Devon Break" flips the script with a rolling breakbeat number peppered with acidic blips and bloops.

Review: The funking, bumping sound of Aesthetic continues to bolster the impact of parent label Constant Sound, bringing a more colourful palette to realm of minimal tech house. The latest Aesthetic release comes from emergent talents Josh Baker & Alfa, working in collaboration to summon up some sprightly grooves to put a spring in your step. "Formulate" is especially bouncy, not least thanks to those nimble synth lines, while "No 800" takes things in a tougher direction without losing that groovy swing and rich sense of melody. "Exteria" completes the set with a particularly funky concoction that heads towards the deeper end of the night.

Review: Josh Baker made his bow on See Double earlier in the year, contributing the spacey, bleep-heavy classic tech-house roller "Frequencies" to the label's first compilation. Here the producer continues his retro-futurist adventures in the company of Jaxn, whose impassioned, falsetto vocals weave in and out of ragged acid lines and jacking drums on EP standout "Explore (Original Mix)". The accompanying "Rich NxT Mix" is an altogether warmer, groovier and more positive interpretation, abandoning the acid lines in favour of dreamy chords, rubbery disco bass and sparkling pianos. Those who prefer Baker's tougher and more mind-altering approach would do well to check out "Black Lines", which wraps trippy electronic bleeps and fuzzy analogue motifs around a snappy rhythm track.
