Review: Something of a meeting of minds here, as long-established Spanish producer Dennis Cruz (Stereo Productions, Hot Creations, Moon Harbour Recordings) joins forces with fellow deep house/tech-house fusionist Josh Butler (Madtech, Defected, Rejected), for a joyous bounce through carnival-ready Latin house. 'Ahora Tado Ba' sneakily uses portions from what sounds like an old Latin jazz record, brilliantly weaving them around a bouncy, drum-heavy samba-house groove. It's an insanely infectious cut and one that we're fully expecting to hear tons over the summer. It comes backed by a drawn-out, loved-up tech-house take from Gorgon City that's arguably far more emotive than Cruz and Butler's original, if a little less urgent, energetic and funky.

Review: Following up great releases by Yousef, Jansons, Gorge & Oliver Schories, next up on Knee Deep In Sound is the talented Northerner Josh Butler. He has become one of the most revered talents in the house scene over the years, racking up a multitude of acclaimed releases on the best labels. The slinky and hypnotic drama of "Roskill" is aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor and sure to soundtrack those saucer eyed moments with its lurking Reese bassline. The second offering titled "Vandit" offers more of the same with its spellbinding melodic progression and come hither vocals.

Review: From Leeds but now based in Manchester, Josh Butler has embarked on a career that in a mere six yeras has gone from strength to strength - with releases on Origins, Hot Creations and now the mighty Poker Flat. The Dreamweaver EP features the slinky and bass driven title track that works a sense of tension and suspense so amazingly well, second offering "Through You" is something more upifting and funky - this swing-fuelled groove is perfect for the afternoon set. Finally to bridge the gap we have the hypnotic "Movement" which gets more deep and minimal and is perfect for those heads-down moments under the strobe light.

Review: Experienced tech-house producer Josh Butler has been rather prolific of late. Amazingly, this outing on Kaoz Theory is his fourth EP of 2017, and we're barely five months into the year. The headline attraction is undoubtedly "Sunday Club", a bouncy, peak-time slammer complete with crackly high-end percussion, bowel-bothering sub-bass and mind-altering electronic riffs. There's still much to enjoy elsewhere, though, from the bustling percussive bounce and cut-up vocal samples of "Tracks", to the basement-bothering late night throb of "Jackal". Also worth checking is Seb Zito's deep, warm and woozy remix of "Sunday Club".

Review: Award winning, crowd pleasing all round top boy, Leeds lad Josh Butler once again delivers the goods, this time for renowned and widely respected label Defected. Combining all the elements of a well designed funky house track, at its heart a 4/4 and crisp highs, we're loving the blurred, echoing darkness subtly shrouding mix. On remix duties is Dario D'Attis and brings a more subdued vibe, with less going on musical your attention is really drawn to the raw soul of the vocal.

Review: Fresh from fine (if arguably a bit overlooked) outings onKenja, ORIGINS RCRDS and Snatch, Josh Butler returns to Kerri Chandler's Kaoz Theory label for a four-track hook-up with vocalist Josh Daniel. They hit the ground running with 'Be There (Extended Mix)', a classy vocal deep house number with added low-end weight and drowsy electric piano lines aplenty, before dropping a locked-in, late-night dub of the same track that reminded us of some of Kerri Chandler's most magical moments. 'Piranha (Deep Dub)' dips the tempo and ups the breakdown factor in a bid to provide the perfect dawn dancefloor soundtrack, while 'Chess (Original Mix)' opts for a more loose-limbed house groove and slowly unfurling melodic motifs.

Review: Josh Butler may come from the north of England, but he sounds like his soul originated in the US. This is clearly audible on his latest EP. Featuring the sublime vocals of house legend Kerri Chandler, the title track resounds to a lean, driving rhythm, raw beats and tinkling piano keys that have an unmistakably New York sound. It's one of the finest US style garage tracks released this year. Remixer Nick Curly does a fine job as well; beefing up the bass and adding in some swirling synth lines, he dispenses with Chandler's vocals, but the result is just as effective as Butler's original.
