Review: Purple Disco Machine, an internationally acclaimed electronic artist, has lent his distinctive touch to the Defected club hit "YoYo Disco" by Wolfram & Josh Ludlow. With a track record of collaborating with top-tier artists such as Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Fatboy Slim, Gorillaz, and others, Purple Disco Machine is recognized for his mastery in the realms of house, deep funk, and disco. The reimagined version of "YoYo Disco" goes beyond the original collaboration, introducing a vibrant disco ambiance with impactful string hits, mesmerizing synth runs, and an enticing vocoder section. This results in a retro sensation gracefully layered atop a dynamic, rolling bass. The "YoYo Disco" remix, presented as the Purple Disco Machine Extended Remix by Wolfram & Josh Ludlow, highlights the seamless collaboration between the original producers and the accomplished remixer.
Review: Make a Dance member and XCESS Records co-founder make his production debur last year via a collaboration with Wolfram on Public Possession. Here he goes solo for the first time, popping up on Nocturne Music with the quietly impressive Mindways EP. The central focal point is 'Touch', a fusion of '80s electrofunk, proto-house and acid house sounds rich in echoing drum machine hits, restless Latin percussion, ghostly chords, raw acid bass and dewy-eyed vocal snippets. It comes backed with an instrumental take plus a trio of high-grade future dancefloor hits: EBM-goes-bleep workout 'Mindways', dub disco-powered slow house number 'A Little Love' and sparkling, mid-80s Italo-disco style workout 'Diska Tek!'.
Review: PVBLIC XCESS is a duo comprised of Chloe Caillet and Josh Ludlow. The pair established XCESS Records as an outlet for their productions last year and have since released a handful of must-check EPs. Wale Wale is the pair's most expansive release to date and features some genuinely inspired, life-affirming moments. Chief amongst these highlights are 'Wale Wale', where Kaleta add vocals and instrumentation to a gorgeously hot, humid and richly electronic take on bouncy Afro-house, and 'Don't Wanna', where vocalist Pat Kalla adds Ghanian vocals to a warming and melodious fusion of deep house and cosmic nu-disco. Elsewhere, 'Sugar Jam' is a modern Afro-boogie-meets-Italo-disco workout, 'C'Est Ca' is a thrusting mambo-house workout, and Josh Ludlow's remix of 'Don't Wanna', which takes the track in a deeper and more hypnotic direction.
