Review: Twisted Individual's Grid collective collide for another adventure in neck support as the label's flagship Head Nodders series hits its 15th volume. The results always speak for themselves as dons young and old congregate with some fantastic fodder. Juiceman's 'Brutal Nature' sets the levels before Hexa proceeds to bite our heads off with the savage 'Rezura' remix. Elsewhere Milo goes super aggy and cosmic on 'Go Back', Module goes pure sci-fi on 'Weightless' and C-Du brings the EP to a mystical dreamy close with the trippy 'Planck Energy'. This gets the nod from us!
Review: For this latest BLUD link up, we see a seriously high level of artistry floating to the surface as the killer combination of LVB, Mouthy & Juiceman join forces, unloading two heavyweight clips of intense fire. We begin with a monstrous display from LVB & Mouthy, presenting the futuristic clanks and dungeon-ready drum bangs of 'Just Like An Archer', a poetic drift through stunning vocal stanzas are mystic martial arts sampling. On the flip, An instrumental thunderstrike as Juiceman joins the party, delivering a scintillating display across the synths of 'Angry Bitch', a swampy sweep through unique sound design and harshly processed subs, giving us two boxes of a-grade dancefloor weaponry.
Review: Ray Keith's Dubplate Dread imprint welcomes the mysterious and currently anonymous Gully Ranger to the fold for this four track exploration of musical and classical jungle styles. All understated and super classy, each cut tickles with timeless charm and allure. From the opening gusto and energy of 'Cradle Of Life' to the bluesy, woozy reflection of the finale 'Out Of Time', all laced with the dulcet delights of scene OG Juiceman, there's a mature vibe and class vibe running through this whole EP. Get fired up!
Review: The rising styles of Trauma DBC goes next level as he joins the fray on Murky Digital and brings in the sounds and skills of the legendary MC Boogieman and Juiceman in due course. 'Brock Wild' sets the scene with raw tension and danger while the next three tracks list some of the greatest things in life... 'Chips & Curry Sauce' fills us up with plenty of carbs for the winter, 'Draw' has us smoking the night away with its skippy junglistic breaks while 'Garlic & Onion' gives us the flavour base we all need in life over a sizzling high voltage bassline. Finally Juiceman gives his own killer twist to one of Trauma DBC's older Murky outings. Powerful.
Review: This latest collection from the Trouble Makers crew is a deftly arranged masterclass in sunshine flavour, exploring some of the most energetic and forward thinking producers out there right now with this wicked 5 track collection. First up, Trouble Makers themselves step forward for 'Love Is The Drug', a bulbous bounce through combination garage and breaks drum lines and wicked vocal toplines, before the energy increases significantly with the chord-led bops of Vet3ranz' 'Vibesin' original, doused in groovy organ lines and emotive string sections. Next, Mando & Stitch deliver some more nostalgic energy with 'I Close My Eyes', utilising more wicked vocal sampling and smooth chord pads, before Juiceman continues the smoother vibes with the wicked sounds of 'U Give Me'. Finally, M3ticulous provides our festival closing finale, as the euphoric arrangement of 'To The Edge' calls time on a very exciting collection that explores the more angelic side of UKG to absolute perfection.
Review: The compilations that come out of the V Recordings camp are as legendary as they come. A whole host of different ideas and concepts such as Planet V, Liquid V Club Sessions and V.I.P - I could go on - have landed on the label and brought us happiness. This time around it's instalment #2 for the Afterparty series and it's an LP with more soul than God, honestly. The sultry piano riff of 'No One Can Hear You Read' will have you tingling with excitement; the dulcet American tones of T.R.A.C go perfectly with Macca & Loz Contreras' iconic sampling on 'Leaps & Bounds'; and 'Summer Dayz' by L-Side and Addiction is a pure funk roll out. Another impeccable V Recordings compilation out the way, then. Smashing stuff.
