Review: K.O.G (Kweku of Ghana) is leader of Afro-fusion collective K.O.G & The Zongo Brigade, as well as singer and front man of ONIPA and co-founder of Zongo Music - a collective for alternative music, based in Sheffield and Ghana. After the success of the tracks taken from his last album Zone 6 Agege, DJs and producers decide to rework some of the tracks in their own way. There's Poirier's uplifting Afrobeat remix of "No Way", Captain Planet's remix of "Shidaa" is absolutely emotive and sun kissed, while Aroop Roy's rework of "Ebenezer" gets seriously deep.
Review: Nice Up live up to their name with a trio of speaker-melting takes on Origin One's most recent release; the fragrant herbal homage "High Grade". First up are no-nonsense next-gen junglist Selecta J-Man and Kelvin 373 whole flip the gritty dancehall original into a turbo-charged jump-up hybrid, mysterious Manny collective Think Tonk get all wavey and stampy while Canadian operator flips things into a cosmic halftime workout where K.O.G's gritty gravel vocals really shine. Nice work.
