Review: KD Raw celebrates its 100th release in style with a superb, dance floor-focused compilation. The fact that KD Raw 100 features so many of techno's most talented producers is testament to label owner Kaiserdisco's A&Ring skills. UK veteran Mark Broom teams up with DJ Love to deliver the slamming kicks and incendiary chord surges of "Ackney Mate". Meanwhile, Drunken Kong goes down a pared back, percussive route for "Hypnosis", while DJ Dextro's "Perihelion" resounds to a clanging bass and raw acid lines. KD Raw has also secured the services of Umek: working under his Polyvinyl alias, the Slovenian titan drops the rolling minimal house of "Shock Factor". The Southern may be a newer name, but his contribution is no less impressive, as he drops the insistent, looped techno of "All About You".

Review: Mark Knight & Co. are straight up with their latest title - but considering their current 15th birthday celebrations, these guys can do whatever they want - they hardly do wrong anyway! House, Tech House, Techno Vol 2 does exactly what is says on the tin with a whopping 62 tracks and three continuous mixes - each dedicated to said subgenre. From that massive remix of Fatboy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" by current scene favourites CamelPhat, Saved main man Nic Fanciulli's collaboration with Damon Albarn on "Saying" (Kolsch remix), label head honcho Knight himself steps up to deliver the pumping and white noise filled "We Get High From The Music" (feat Mr V) and the inimitable Danny Howells is always welcome - particularly with a track as electrifying as the recently released "Isolar".

Review: Kaiserdisco released their third artist album, Another Dimension, on Tronic last year, and now Christian Smith's label has commissioned a set of killer remixes of the album's highlights. First up is another German duo, Adana Twins, who turn "Veruna" into a tranced out, building affair, replete with dramatic chords and epic breakdowns. Given his pedigree as a no-nonsense techno producer, it's no surprise that Andre Crom's take on "Orcus" is a rolling, tribal affair that brings the listener back to the late 90s days of Tronic's party sound. Rounding off this remix release is another seasoned artist, Spain's Aitor Ronda, who transforms "Hydra" into an ominous, bass-heavy workout that has shades of vintage Joey Beltram.

Review: Tronic is one of the longest-established techno labels, and is celebrating two decades in operation this year. Fittingly, Christian Smith has tapped Kaiserdisco to release their third artist album on the label - and they don't disappoint. "Eris" is a dense, rolling techy-house affair, led by a chugging groove and eerie riffs cutting through the arrangement. "Varuna", by contrast, resounds to tranced out synth riffs and dramatic filters, while the slow down and speed up mid-way through is the pair's hat tip towards classic house music. Referencing other classic styles, "Charon" provides a modern spin on the tech meets minimal house sound of the early 00s. While there are some musical digressions - like the synth passage "Vanth" - this is an album destined to be played in big rooms.

Review: Hamburg's kings of peak time minimal return with more stadium sized dancefloor destroyers, this time for Christian Smith's long running Tronic imprint. When not releasing on their own KD Music, they're doing stuff on Drumcode and 100% Pure, so they know what they're doing. "Trinity" is a tough pre peak time adrenaliser with chunky and phaed out synth stabs and epic doom laden strings backed by a furious, cavernous beat. Second track "Sherman" features the same pounding and reverberated kick but this time supported techno stabs, hissing open high hats and a dreamy whirling melody. Surefire and reliable techno for any occasion.

Review: To celebrate its 100th release, long-established label My Best Friend has put together a mammoth compilation. Featuring classic MBF releases like Cosmic Sandwich's "Man in a Box" and Dirt Crew's "Rock Da House", 100 is also notable for unearthing some lesser-known killers. There's Crowdkillers' "Miss Jones", an awesome stripped back house track powered by lithe Latin vocals and a disturbed female vocal, and the deep, haunting synths of Florian Meindl's "La Nuit". Even when My Best Friend follows more conventional sounds, as it does on "Get Down" by Filthy Rich and Danny Serrano's "Likenobody", the tribal drums are loose and organic, the filtering subtle and the vocal samples atypical.

Review: Wherein Kaiserdisco gets to grips with music from some of house music's biggest names and emerge smiling. The take on Steve Lawler's "Distrait" is classic Kaiserdisco, with heavy bongo drums leading into shaking percussion and later on a dramatic, string-led breakdown. Meanwhile, the take on Dualton's "Face Off" is slightly more understated, with stripped back, minimal rhythms underpinning insistent vocal sampling and an infectious disco filter. But the killer remix here is the re-rub of Booka Shade and label owner Marc Romboy's "Every Day In My Life". Over tribal beats and a huge filter, an unnamed woman sings the catchy refrain "I got something for your mind, your body and your soul /every day of my life". It's the kind of vocal refrain that will seduce even the most hardened purist.
