The journey begins with "Icey Baby" by KaySoul, a track that lives up to its name. Soulful vocals and sensitive production create a chilled and introspective atmosphere. Review: As the matter-of-fact title makes clear, Dirt Crew's 'The Remixes' series offers sporadic round ups of some of the finest reworks from the Dirt Crew vaults. As you'd expect, this third volume is full to bursting with floor-friendly revisions, with a mixture of rising stars, underground heroes and big hitters at the helm. Highlights include, but are in no way limited to, Clive From Accounts' lusciously loose and tactile deep house tweak of KaySoul's 'Behind One', KaySoul's ultra-deep broken house tweak of 'See The Morning Light' by Petals In Sound, Ron Trent's epic and awe-inspiring re-imagining of Ida Hana's 'Lo Fi Hi', Dampe French's boogie and jazz-funk influenced, break-driven remix of S3A's 'Fever', and Spirit Catcher's synth-heavy, acid-flecked re-wire ofPrudo's 'Ancora No'.

Review: Katlego 'KaySoul' Tjale has released a lot of largely impressive music over the last few years, most notably for Dirt Crew, Shall Not Fade and Moiss Music Black. 'Blind' marks the prolific producer's first outing on Lazy Days, and there's no doubt that it's a touch sunnier, deeper and more soul-flecked than many may expect. Sure, the groove and synth sounds used tend towards the tech-tinged end of the deep house spectrum, but Kristina Sheli's superb lead vocal and some addictive melodic refrains push the track further towards tech-soul territory. The accompanying 'Laidback Mix' sees Tjale make great use of warmer pads and a deliciously squelchy TB-303 style bassline, while 'Vous Vous' is a sparkling, sun-drenched affair that's as attractive as it is seriously summery.

Review: Shall Not Fade's annual birthday compilations are always worth a look, not least because they tend to be packed with plenty of previously unreleased material from label regulars, friends and newcomers. This seventh birthday edition - the label's fifth compilation in total - is another epic, with 28 high quality tracks jostling for your attention. The track listing reflects the label's eclectic but largely dancefloor-focused approach, with highlights including the stomping big room techno darkness of Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot's 'Alpha', the organ-rich New Jersey style peak-time house bump of Lis Sarocca's 'Oasis Floor', the bumpin' speed garage revivalism of 'All The Girls' by Main Phase, the warped, MC-sporting two-step wobble of Killjoy and Kwam's 'Active', and the deep and dreamy breaks/two-step fusion of 'Overcome' by Adam BFD.

Review: Confirmed label hopper KaySoul pops up on Dirt Crew Recordings for the very first time, with the South African producer bringing with him a trio of ear-pleasing, floor-friendly deep house gems. We're particularly enjoying opener 'Mr Ray in Cosmic', where metallic percussion hits, bleeping lead lines, a dreamy two-note chord progression and fuzzy analogue bass catch the ear. That said, both the extra-percussive, emotive and tactile 'UFO Frequency' and the bubbly, off-kilter lo-fi house number 'Behind One' are also impressive. Clive From Accounts offers up a fine remix of the latter track, turning it into an intriguingly swung, ultra-deep affair that makes the most of KaySoul's killer chords and gorgeous melodic elements.
