Review: Established in 2012, Natty Dub Recordings is a digital jungle/drum & bass label based out of Essex, UK. Following up some great releases by the likes of Erbman and Jaxx, we have a new one on the label here this week by kC & MC Astro who surfaced last year on French label Weapons Of Choice Recordings. They are in fine form on this three tracker, which features the party rockin' jump-up energy of "Rock The Sound" featuring Astro's cool-as-a-cucumber vocal delivery, the wonky steppa that is "Moon Patrol" and slamming it out with all they've got on the wicked "Driving Fast" calling to mind the best of DJ Marky or Bingo Beats.

Review: KC & Regina are on Natty Dub for a single that sits comfortably on the intersection between lighter and darker bits, a nice concoction of influences that come together for wicked results. 'Street Lights' is fresh and creative, with a skippy, Serum-esque drum line and warped out synth nodes that climb and fall in tandem with each other, forming a hypnotic main melody. Mcleod steps in for the remix on the flip and takes things into darker territory with a stripped back arrangement, greater focus on the drums and an even nastier back end. Big.

Review: KC is back on the fast-moving train that is jump-up and dancefloor dnb and once more, he's proven adept at bringing to the fore some forward-thinking sounds in that regard. He's a name we know and 'Let's Get Rowdy' - the title track to this release - is certainly a promising sign. Glitchy and with a satisfying sense of lagged out travel, this tune certainly bites hardbut it does so in a fresh, unique manner. 'Girls & 808's' is step-up in sophistication and nastiness, a snappy, stepping drum line pushing up into its metallic bottom line, this one is a proper creeper.

Review: KC is a wicked little artist and Weapons of Choice have picked him and MC Astro up for this rough and ready collection of urban-edged sounds that'll please those who enjoy low-roofed, sweaty raves. 'Night Time Rollin'' has that old-school drum sound that's been lost these days amidst the fever over crisp mixdowns and perfect harmonies, this track choosing instead the road of vibes that are industrial and guttural in equal measure, each inch drips with attitude and this track really doesn't mess around in any sense. The others are equally devastating, especially the second VIP of the EP, 'Not Today', which packs fat stabs underneath Astro's sweet vocal injection.

Firing from all cannons, every track is a thumper; Saxxon gets his squelch on with "Brockley Fox", T>I is all screams, wriggles and giggles on "Pointless Torture", Sikka delivers one of his best tunes to date in the funk-fuelled form of "You Know", Suv and Mood give us a Bristol kiss with the slinky, hip-twisting "Mambo" and Jaxx nods his cap at the wild west of the mid 90s on the percussion heavy "Hurdles". Review: There's something so, so nice about D&B that combines vocal loveliness with gully undertones, and that's exactly what KC and Christina Tamayo have done here. The title track starts off beautifully laid-back, with a simple piano line leading you in onto the rattling percussion and guttural, funky bassline. There's an old-school roughness to this that we're digging a lot. The flip is similar in its rough and tumble sonics, this time not dropping out of nowhere but slowly building itself up, the momentum finally releasing on the drop into a hail of energy and force. Tamayo sounds fantastic throughout, so shoutout to her, KC and the Innovate crew.
