Review: Shall Not Fade has reached the ripe old age of eight, a cause for celebration in these troubled times for artists and labels. To mark the occasion, the Bristol-based imprint has offered up this vast, 34-track compilation featuring new and unheard cuts from its ever-expanding family of artists. Naturally, it not only reflects Shall Not Fade's output, but also that of its various offshoots and series. So, there's plenty of high-grade deep house and immersive, breakbeat-driven deepness, but also surging, high-tempo rave-era nostalgia (see the tracks by TESTPRESS and Sheffield sorts Adelphi Music Factory), bassline (ABSOLUTE & HRSN), futurist techno (Marc Brauner), deep electro (Halo), hip-hop revivalism (Lydia Eisenbatter), progressive house and trance-influenced loveliness (MNL), and much more besides.

Exit 99 - "Lemon Acid" - (4:07) 125 BPM
Review: Now the team at ONEPUF are gaining quite the reputation for extracting the weird and wonderful out of the producers they work with. This latest third edition of their self-named compilation series is a perfect example of that as they welcome 8 producers who all bring something very different to the table. Epoch provides us with an amphibious roller with 'Understand', followed by Exit 99's very unusual moogy creation 'Lemon Acid'. Next, some techy breaks action on 'Flugel Dance' from Coldpast before Kobe JT & Tuff Tax hit us with some original UKG flavour. Joedan keeps us on the garage tip with 'Black Everything', followed by the jersey club style sounds of 'Swisha Drop' from Killjoy and high speed acid vibes of Zeed's 'Fish & Chips'. Finally, DJ BMW lets loose some original techno flavour with the unpredictable moog stabs of 'Reactor Core VIP', with Headchef's 'Alarming Regularity' providing us with the perfect outro for this momentous compilation.

Review: Over the years, there are genuinely very few labels that have been able to amass as impressive a catalogue as Project Allout, a label that continue to unleash bass and grime music at the highest level as me move into 2020. This latest compilation release takes the title 'Keep It PAR, Volume 2', and is a terrific showcase of the different styles on offer within the imprint, including music from PAR allstars such as Dubzta, Moony, Dutty Tingz, Daze Prism, JT, Killjoy, Palize and more. For us, there are two clear highlights, with the super groovy twists of 'Baby Boy' from Venz being the first, followed by the smooth garage flavours of 'I Dont Know' from Lushen.

Review: It's time for somewhat of an explosive apperance on this one as we see the highly anticipated return of Roadman Joel who again gets busy alongside his compadres at Tumble Audio for one of the biggest and baddest bass music selections on road. As ever with a Tumble compilation, the genre range is exceptional, from Sergic's breaksy brilliance on 'The Prince' to the super cold speed garage episode in 'Jawnz' and the grimey, tech infused drum slices of 'No Bootlegs' from Timbah. This a fantastic project from start to finish, with our two main highlights being Leda Stray's super funky pulser in 'Ashtray', Rame's lively vocal appearance of Ali McK & IYZ's 'An Again', and the acidic expressions of Arctic's 'A Little Bit More Reese'.

Review: As one of the standout projects in the early days of basslines revival movement, Low Pitched have been on somewhat of a hiatus for the last 12 months, which we are extremely happy to see finishing as they unveil the first edition of their new self titled compilation project. This release sees them bring in the sounds of Fork & Knife, Ali McK & IYZ, Spookz, Sirmo, Kaizen Karnak and more, boasting a weighty UK funky influence throughout. For us, the stand outs have to include Killjoy's lethal original 'Spring Loaded', which is driven by well processed drum patterns and groovy bass instrument. We also have to shout out Bassravers for their colourful contribution in 'Dope', an infectious ball of energy from start to finish.

Review: It appears that Skillzy's now infamous PAR label is at it again, gathering and arranging an absolutely monstrous compilation here, featuring heavyweight riddims from some of the coldest names currently working across the grime and bass sphere. We see exciting returns for label favourites such as Juzlo, Dubzta, Daze Prism, Killjoy and more, who have all previously featured heavily on PAR. This compilation offers something for everyone, from the sharpened, evil grime chops of Garna's 'Peroni', to the UKG prowess and skippy rhythmic bliss of 'Kobe JT's most recent PAR appearance with 'Selecta'.

Review: 1Forty set up here to continue their exceptional run during throughout 2018 by bringing together an exciting collection of artists for the second edition of their 'Funky & Garage' season. Having been previously premiered on the new Threethousand website, we see Killjoy and Smokey 'Bubblin B' lead the way with the super groovy 'Voices In My Head' alongside Shantie and the old school pulse rolls of 'Where's Larry'. We also get gifted a breaksy funky fusion as 9TRANE and Arridim team up on 'Plazma', whilst Cardinal Sound round off an awesome selection with 'Ayy', a carnival special set to turn any dance to a bruckout.

CLB - "No More" - (4:56) 127 BPM
DopeNClick - "Update" - (3:55) 125 BPM
Review: As one of the grime and bass scene's standout label projects over the last 5 years, Project Allout have conquered much, constantly alternating between grime, dubstep, bass and garage, all with a real touch of finesse. This latest compilation sees the gang assemble in force as the likes of Sammy Virji, Killjoy, Palize, Deadbeat UK, Daze Prism and more heavyweight names bring their heat to the table. For us the standout tracks have to be Dunman's grimey roller in 'Chip On The Block' and of course Moony's amazonian funky ride out on 'M', a subby mover, designed to take the dance real low.

Gangrene - (6:07) 128 BPM
Review: Within UK bass culture, Tumble Audio have gone on to achieve veteran status, both as an events company and as a highly innovative independent label. For their latest release, co-founder Killjoy is back amongst the madness with a crazy four tracker. The title track 'Delusions' is a tasty 4x4 number, incorporating lethal synthesis and sharp drum processing. Following this we hear the more UKG influenced stylings of 'Drifting' and explosive funky arrangements of 'Gangrene'. Finally the EP rounds off with the choppy 808 led triplets of 'Club Fade 95', after successfully traversing a huge spectrum of UK bass music themes.

Review: It's that time again, as the infamous PAR imprint returns for their yearly Christmas compilation, showcasing their extensively versatile roster and variety of musical styles. This year is a collection of returns and debuts, as we see Killjoy, Deadbeat, Dr Cryptic, KXVU, Moony, Jakebob amongst others all make solid return appearances. Some of our favorites include the haunting sounds of Dallen's grimey roller 'Time', the catchy 4x4 riffs and rhythms of Kind Hydra's 'Bass Trap' and skippy arrangement and aggressive synth design on 'Trigga' from the elusive Rotti. There aren't many labels that can boast such an extensive yet versatile roster and yet remain so assured in as many different areas of UK bass music.

Daze Prism - "Napalm" - (3:56) 128 BPM
Dreadless - "What You Do" - (6:40) 126 BPM
Review: Top talent spotters in the Bass game; Project Allout are back with a new squad of bass-making talent, as well as whole host of established names that project helped to launch to the outer stratospheres in recent years. It's the third edition of their legendary Lengerz series packed with 39 tracks straight from the legion of Lengdom and as we've come to expect from the Steel City boys, they're covering the full gully side of the 125 to 140bpm spectrum; from the eski angst of Arkham's "Jacotanu" the tripped out video game Trap of Creep N00m's "419" to the Pulse X style 808 bass tones of Dubzta's "Energy".... there is even a bit of donk in there via Casement's Young Team. Put it this way, if you are a fan of basslines that make your face look like you're chewing lemons then there is something in hear for you!
Highlights here at Juno HQ include the skaggy chirps on Dead Beat UK's "Baghead VIP", Livsey's TC inspired "Tap Ho" and newcomer Cole slowing the pace but not the intensity with the earth shattering "Mud".
There's a reason why these compilations hang around the top of our charts for years on end, it's because they are jam packed with silly amounts of exclusive A-sides. You don't need to be an Oxbridge educated economist to realise that few labels in the game can boast bang per buck like this!

Review: What an absolute treat from the F2 stable this is! The courageous label has taken it upon itself to keep releasing puristic garage in an era where genres are bbeing blurred like Saturday night cocktails, and it really is a great thing to have someone carrying on the UK's seminal tradition along the hardcore continuum. This is the first volume of their F2 comps, and features a whol load of break-ready, gun-toting individuals wishing to inject some class into modern house. Inside, you'll find some absolute bangers for peeps like Champion, Tuff Culture, Deadbeat - who comes through with some twisted two-step - and Pharaoh K, among the many fresh faces on here. SICK!

Killjoy X Champion - "Sludge" - (3:52) 126 BPM
Yaga Yaga - (3:03) 128 BPM
Review: Nottingham's Killjoy has laid low for a quite a while now, but he's back out in the open with the Moving Target EP. The break's done him good as this wobble hero has sought to mess with the low frequencies in new and exciting ways. The title track is an assertive beast with asymmetric tropical riddims, weird sounds and a creepy metallic bassline. Champion joins the laughs on cheeky wobbler "Sludge" with its cool carnival vibes. Lastly "Yaga Yaga" is pure, future 4 x 4 energy. Welcome back Mr Killjoy, we've been expecting you.

Killjoy - "Tanked" - (5:37) 128 BPM
Review: Charismatic Tumble selector Joel hits the road once again with a collection of sinewy UKG, future bass, twisted house and barbed wire grime. Highlights fall of every track like an ill-fitting suit with gully gems such as the weirded out wobbles of Joedan & Kontent?s ?Ruggish?, Killjoy?s vitalising squelch funk on ?Public Enemy?, and premium sexytime silk in the form of Taz?s ?Lonely? and gossamer two-step soul by way of Spekktrum?s ?Talk To Me?. What with it being exactly a year since the last Roadman collection, we?re hoping Tumble turn this into an annual affair.

With exclusive cuts and versions firing from all the label's most consistent contributors, it covers all relative corners creatively; from Killjoy's gameshow grime "Turnt Ones VIP" to the chiselled, sinewy two-steps of Terror Danjah & Zed Bias's "Telepathy" via the sheet metal snares on Flava D's "Break", this collection goes further than representing a forward-thinking imprint but also documents exactly where bass music is heading in the future. Review: Label regular Killjoy teams up with Lenkemz for a new track and selection of remixes on the incorrigible Tumble Audio. The original mix of "Wesley Snipes" features the grimey vocal talent Slick Don on the mic, and you also get an instrumental to tool up into your DJ set. Majora steps up for a funky house remix compete with gargling bassline and a whole artillery of choppy percussion shots, whereas Spooky goes in with some killer half-step vibes reminiscent of something on Deep Medi or played by Mala or Coki, for that matter. Check it - essential doesn't even cover it.

Memories (Caski remix) - (5:01) 129 BPM
Review: Nottingham's Killjoy claims he makes 'grimey UK bass music'. We think he's selling himself short with both his name and self-description - these tunes are more likely to bring joy to a party and they cover a bit more musical ground too. "Memories" takes a 4x4 wobble groove and applies some classy funk for good measure. Sticking with the wobble bass, "Tangle", goes harder and even throws in some string stabs, while the dubby "Inaudible Badness" takes us to more tropical climes.
