Anna Melara EP
Feel Yo - (4:05) 121 BPM
Where They're From - (4:28) 122 BPM Hot
Want You - (5:10) 124 BPM
Get Over - (5:22) 127 BPM
Review: German percussionist Kolja Gerstenberg makes no attempt to hide his love for the drums on this razor sharp drop for Lumberjacks In Hell, building on his previous outings on Suol and Smile For A While. The drums are sizzling hot on "Feel Yo", tastefully overdriven and embellished with some MPC-style sample juggling that should satisfy those who like their house tracks hot as Dante's inferno. "Where They're From" is no slouch either, keeping the pressure up with a liberal dose of soul poured in for good measure. The keys and live bass on "Want You" add to the feverish mood, and then "Get Over" sends things spiraling out on a Latin-spiced cosmic journey.

Review: Kolja Gerstenberg is a 24 year old producer from Leipzig Germany that's had releases previously on top deep house imprints like Quintessentials, SUOL and Smile For A While - which gives you a strong idea of where his sound is coming from. Up next on promising London based imprint Monologues, he serves up three fine examples of Berlin styled deep house on the East Shake EP. From the sunkissed, hip-hop inspired MPC deepness of "Erdball", to the funky breaks of "Muffsound", or "Herber 660" with its sexy late night groove complete with jacked vocals for added effect. A bonus remix comes in the form of G Markus' early '90s UK rave rendition of "Muffsound" which was killer!

Gentlemen Cuts Vol 3
Kian T - "Disco Sauvage" - (7:01) 120 BPM
Replika - "Hollowgram" - (6:19) 117 BPM Hot
Giovanni Damico - "Kitkat" - (5:00) 110 BPM
Kolja Gerstenberg - "Get Your Ass Up" - (6:03) 111 BPM
Review: Quintessentials has assembled a fine cast of rising talents for the third volume in their ongoing Gentlemen Cuts series. Sometime Secret Reels and Toy Tonics producer Kian T kicks things off with the woozy, Folamour style number "Disco Savage", which brilliantly flits between deep and dusty grooves and mazy, disco-fired synth solos. Replika serves up more jazz-funk influenced deep house positivity in the shape of the synth-bass-propelled roller "Hollowgram", before Giovanni Damico does a brilliant job editing bustling dream breaks on the warm and sensual "KitKat". Finally, Kolja Grestenberg doffs a cap towards Andres and Local Talk on the swinging, soul-powered bump of brilliant closer "Get Your Ass Up". Stellar stuff, all told.
