Review: Rising star Paul Rudder returns to Shall Not Fade following fine outings on Berg Audio, Exploited Ghetto and House On Wax, this time with fellow one-to-watch Kresy in town. The pair deliver a pair of collaborative cuts: the warming, piano-rich old school US house optimism of 'Dance Like Forever' and the chunkier and more energetic - but no less loved-up or nostalgic 'Floating Penthouse'. Kresy also delivers two revisions of the latter tune, first re-framing it is a deep acid house bubbler before beefting up the beats and reaching for ambient techno sounds on the driving and ear-pleasing 'Uplifting Version'. As if that wasn't enough to se the pulse racing, Rudder's two solo excursions - the deep and loved-up 'Inside U' and the piano-driven rush of 'Dreamin' About' - are also ace.

Review: The second offering from Brooklyn-based Let's Play House offshoot, Room Service, is, like the first one, a four-track solo EP by one of the most exciting house music talent's around. RECORDS features four originals by Spanish producer Kresy, who's already released a few releases on the esteemed Hivern Discs as well as Retrofit, Freerange, and his own Discomaths. The songs included here vacillate between hands-in-the-air feel good disco and jittery, shuffling house, though they're all unified by an inherent grooviness and bright tonality.

Review: Something of a treat here from Barcelona's Hivern Disc label, as they deliver the first in a series of digital-only releases focusing on analogue-heavy house jams. Stylistically, much of the material sits somewhere between classic Chicagoan acid, vintage deep house and the retro-futurist new school doodlings of the 100% Silk label, without particularly sounding like any. There's a glacial melancholy to the woozy melodies and vintage jack of Aster's superb "Olde", while T&J's afro-tinged "Drum & Synths" sounds like it was beamed down from some distant star. Kresy's "En Bypass"exudes a delicious warmth, whilst Marc Pinol's "Solve Et Coagula" has an analogue swing and clattering groove all of its own. Formidable fare.
