Instigator / Guilt Trip
Instigator - (5:01) 140 BPM Hot
Guilt Trip - (4:41) 140 BPM
Review: With Boka's legendary status already very much secured across the dubstep and 140 spectrum, it's safe to say that a fellow legendary figure such as Kromestar stopping by is only going to amplify that status further. This latest two-tracker therefore is stuff full of goodies, opening up with the moody sub pulses and cinematic string textures of 'Instigator', that through its advanced musicality and distant piano chords, gives us a truly emotive introduction. On the flip to this, 'Guilt Trip' employs a much more breaks-infused angle, focussing primarily on shimmering synth patterns and vocal reverberations for a wonderful sonic experience.

The Progress (Pt. 2 (Dune)) - (4:08) 85 BPM
The Progress (original mix) - (3:28) 85 BPM Hot
Review: There is no denying that Kromestar is one of the UK's most legendary production talents, having been present across numerous different eras of electronic music, always pushing the boundaries further than anyone around him. This time around, he returns to his home at Nebula Music for a fiery two-track slam down. Up first, we explore part 2 of 'The Progress', which taking the bracketed title 'Dune', gives us a frankly masterful slink through gritty reese bass textures. This is then followed by the original mix, which again, blows our socks off, focussing on more mind-melting synth work to push the boundaries even further.

Nu Era Dub VIP
Nu Era Dub (VIP) - (4:47) 140 BPM
Who Dat Jazz (original mix) - (4:34) 140 BPM Hot
Review: What do you expect to see when two true legends of a genre combine? Whatever the expectations are, there is no denying that this latest two tracker from both Kromestar & N-Type has exceeded them, exploiting two stunning creations to say the very least. We begin with the incredibly emotive melodic sweeps and siren-like synth leads of 'Nu Era Dub (VIP)', a truly gorgeous arrangement which combines the best of both artists in a fusion-driven masterclass. Next, 'Who Dat Jazz' arrives on the flip, again utilising subtle vocal stabs and charming key slides to give us a perfect b-side backup. Both of these stand tall in their own right, but combined, become even more special. Hats off!

Bloodshed / Avatar
Bloodshed - (4:38) 105 BPM
Avatar - (5:06) 140 BPM Hot
Review: Whenever Kromestar steps back into the fray, we know we are going to be in for a good time, with this latest combination of futuristic dubstep flavour hitting the nail on the head. We open up with the jittery synth work and steadily rocking subs of 'Bloodshed', a potent bubbler that uses silky subs and minimal drum design to amp up the energy levels almost instantly. On the flip, 'Avatar' then provides us with a more emotive drift through blissful pad textures and steadily phasing percussion, giving us a very alternative B-side and providing the release with the perfect amount of variation.

Review: As always, Kromestar has delivered a very impressive box of magic with his brand new album, unleashing a dazzling display of stunning sonic satisfaction, courtesy once again of the Nebula Music Group. From start to finish this new project touches every nerve and unveils every emotion, from the blissful, moogy soundscapes of the introductory 'Daydream', to the syncopated shuffles and moody bass pulses of 'Submarine', alongside the more purple influenced synth flicks of 'Grudge'. The whole album is a truly fantastic overview of just how versatile Kromestars production palette is, with our favourites including the reesey slides of 'Fault', the emotive string work of 'Runway' and of course, the soundsystem busting synthetics of 'On Sight', which sees Kromestar let loose his more raucous dubstep side. Honestly, it's an awesome body of work!

Review: Well following on from a number of impressive dubstep events across the full spectrum of the scene, The Deep Heads team have matched that all with this incredible new compilation as they deliver the third edition of their incredible 'Deep Heads' series. This star-studded lineup is pretty breath-taking, with the likes of Kromestar, Biome, Om Unit, Sukh Knight, Synkro & more all delivering some serious bassweight. The tracklisting is made up of 24 wicked originals, with our favourites actually coming from some of the lesser established faces on the project. These include the likes of Mystic State's sumptuous 'Society' original alongside Astrid, which boasts serious 'Anti-Social' vibes. As well as this, the more stripped back, garage influenced drums of Clubroot's 'Harmony' and dancing percussion of 'Traps' from Escapism Refuge also sit as highlight picks for us!

Rise Up/Real Ones
Rise Up - (4:39) 140 BPM
Real Ones - (2:49) 140 BPM Hot
Review: It's always exciting to see legends return to the game, so when we saw that Kromestar was back with another show stopping two track delight, we simply had to get involved. We begin this drop from the Nebula Music Group with 'RIse Up' a fantastic display of call and respond within two synthesizer pulses, which give the whole track a really vibrant feel, like it never stops moving. On the flip side, we hear Kromestar switch as only Kromestar can, with 'Real Ones' combining dubbed out piano chords with haunting vocal lines and stiff sub-bass expressions below to give it some serious welly. It's another successful two track display from one of dubstep music's real legends.

Review: Following on from a short hiatus away from releasing, we are super excited to see the return of Trends' Mean Streets label project, who unveil the second edition of their 'Trilogy' release series. If you are a fan of grime music in general, this isn't a tracklisting you can ignore as the likes of Boylan, D.O.K, P.Jam, and more all join Trends for eight tracks of grimey flavour. As always with Mean Streets drops, these aren't light and fluffy creations, these are instrumentals designed to cause a ruckus in the rave. Our particular favourites include the super skippy drum manoeuvres and colourful bass arrangements of 'Source' from Silas, alongside the raucous horn arrangements and lethal synthesis of Kromestar's 'Dancehall'. Amazing work from an incredible label!

Missing - (3:35) 140 BPM
Review: It's been a short while since we last heard the legendary sounds of Kromestar deliver a new EP, but boy was this one worth the wait as he unleashes to incredibly emotive originals via the Nebula Music Group. We begin with the title track 'Aftermath', a sumptuous exploitation of chilling choir-like vocal lines and smoothened, well processed drum creations to give us something both heavenly and haunting at the exact same time. On the flip to this we take in 'Missing', another emotion-fueled thrill-ride, focussing much more on sweeping melodic inflections and subtle harmonic dips, showing the more delicate side of Kromestar's production. Amazing work!

Review: Two legends, one legendary label, what more could you ask for from a dubstep release? We are therefore thrilled to see a top draw link up between veterans: Kromestar and N-Type on the ever ready Wheel & Deal. The pair first join forces on the electrifying bass tones and sharp drum punches of 'Bad Trip', a gnarly roller, destined to duppy the dance. On the flip, we jump into the more experimental, system-infused subs of 'Rolling Skies', that couple Kromestar's classic unpredictable percussive movements with evil soundscaping to round this one off in style.

Review: Now if we are being honest, there are very few producers that can say they have truly stood the test of time to the same level that Kromestar has, who through a constantly evolving production style and variation in alias has stayed on top of the game for over 10 years. This latest release with Nebula Music is a perfect example of that growth, as 'Gravity' lunges to the front, packed with dark, gritty synthesizer rolls and high energy rhythms. On the flip, we are then gifted the super alien sounding structures and bass warbles of 'First Kind', a super spacey creation drawing dubwise influences and using them with great results.
