Review: Michal Wolski has carved out a niche for releasing tough, uncompromising music for respected labels like Nonplus and Eerie. Now he brings that vision to this split EP with fellow Polish artist Kuba Sojka. Wolski's "Atman" is a dense, wiry stepper that resounds to glitchy soundscapes, while he ventures down a route occupied by Sleeparchive and Mike Parker for the bleep laden "Anatman", resulting in a tripped out club techno track. Sojka isn't afraid to mix things up either; the use of concrete weight kicks and clanging percussion on "Fire Haze" has echoes of Oscar Mulero, while "Mirage" is a buzzing, wailing electro-techno workout with ebm influences.

Review: Catz 'N' Dogz, one of the first Polish house acts to achieve international success, has decided the time is right for a two-part, "cultural statement of intent from their country's great thinkers, creators, collaborators and disruptors in electronic music". This first part of the all-Polish compilation series is naturally full of intoxicating but varied dancefloor treats. Compare and contrast the Orbital-goes-dream house lusciousness of Earth Trax's "Horyzont", Kuba Sojka's dubby and hypnotic, late night tech-house trip "Walkin Bass" and the lo-fi house fuzz served up by The Analog Roland Orchestra. Best of all, though, is Das Komplex's epic remix of Till von Sein and Aera's "Dynamite", which bubbles away on a Balearic dub disco tip for 10 mesmerizing minutes.

You Can't Take It (soul mix) - (7:08) 112 BPM Hot
Review: Talented Polish producer Kuba Sojka takes a break from releasing on Jamal Moss's Mathematics Recordings imprint to deliver an impressive trio of cuts for Dogmatik. In its original form, "You Can't Take It" is a tough, atmospheric chunk of droning late night tech-house, all "Energy Flash" acid stabs, drifting vocal samples, drawn-out chords and urgent grooves. Brilliantly, there's also a total remake in a hazy, lazy, sunshine-flecked modern boogie style (check the drifting trumpet solos and rubbery electric bass). You couldn't get any more different, really, but it's a superb rework. Bonus cut "Don't Be Shy" is an intriguing effort, too, sitting somewhere between UK garage, deep house and synth-heavy electrofunk. The boy's got skills.
