Review: Now time for something rather gully. Literally... 'Arroyo' hits DARKMTTR's vaults and its one of the grizzliest, grimiest and straight-up funky tunes S.P.Y's label has released so far. Not content with flattening us with toxic waste bass one time, Kyrist then flips the vibe into something groovier and future focused on 'NTY' while still maintaining that dark bass energy. Arguably two of Kyrist's best tunes to date, these are exceptional.
Review: Have a word son! DLR's 'Sofa King Sick' series continues with another breath-taking collection of thumpers, bumpers and grumpers from an outstanding roll-call of talents. 14 cuts in total, highlights include the creepy tension of Industry's 'Chronic', Sweetpea's classic stepper 'Munka', the real stinky, swampy funk on DLR & Script's 'A Different Style', the stripped back drama and growling subtleties of Kyrist's 'Underfall' and the outstanding tear-up from Trex & Freddy B - 'Go Mad'. Fitting title for such a powerful display of leftfield D&B funk. Sick indeed.
Review: Lenzman's imprint serves up its first V/A right here with Quarter To Quarter. Featuring exclusive tracks from the likes of FD, LSB, Total Science, Kyrist, Tokyo Prose, Break, Zero T and so many more, it's a full spectrum representation of the label that ranges from sublime, sun-kissed soul such as Redeyes' "Lust", Atlantic Connection and Steo's "Night & Day" to bouncy, vocal high-vibe affairs such as Break's remix of "In My Mind". Along the way expect stunning strident, cosmic hypnotic workouts (Tokyo Prose - "Rescue"), dubby dreamers (Kyrist - "Untrue") unlikely rudeboy slappers (Total Science - "Killa") and every other authentic, genuinely crafted D&B sound you associate with the label. Quarter To Quarter ... No half measures.

Review: For us, Uprise Audio had a stand out year across 2018, delivering a selection of extremely well received releases, never faltering or dipping in quality from the word go. They are back here with a brand new bag of tricks from Kyrist, who unveils four tracks of pure heat. We begin with the swampish textures and hypnotic synth patterns of 'Do You Have The Chime?'. This leads into the breakbeat textures of 'Solace', before winding down into the more mellowed out themes of 'Gatekeeper'. Finally, we finish up this monumental body of work with a dive into the smooth percussive rolls and spacious textures of 'Cry'. Very good stuff indeed!
