Review: Flowrian and Kyro return to Focuz for another round of drum & bass classics in the making and this time things just got a little more chilled. Alright, so the breaks are as edgy as ever and the feverish bass rolls out like nobody's watching but "Never Ever" has the crisp production and dreamlike sampling of a track made for stealth chilling. The happiness continues in "Formulas", tapping away at electro bips and boops while sax swoons all mellow-like in the background. Final track "Valencia" gets a 'deep & dry' remix, topping of the mid-range with hazy atmosphere and a whole bunch of deep-meaning feels. A must-have for every D&B headphone commuter.
Review: A collection of gems from the deeper and liquid side of D&B here from the likes of Command Strange, Bachelors of Science and Scott Allen. Quadrant's "Expanse" gets the album started with crisp, metallic breaks, sweeping instrumentals and a warm, fuzzy bassline. We are taken through such moments as Gerwin's super slick, vocal-led cut "Floods (featuring Suree)", the bittersweet "A World Full Of Lies" from Smote & SoundNBeats and the hip-hop influenced swagger of Bachelors Of Science "Bounce". An excellent long listener, take this on a car journey with you and discover something new today.
Review: An excellent compilation from D&B imprint Celsius, which brings together a wide range of talent from the likes of Command Strange, Derrick & Tonika, Kyro, Incident, Brother, Ali and more. All channelling a blissed out, deeper sound, this collection of tracks is aimed at the more discerning listener. Highlights include Ali's upbeat, vocal-led guitar strumming liquid gem "Everything (feat dramatic & dbAudio)", Derrick & Tonika's moody "Forward Thinking" and Centrik & Grimm's contemplative cut "Don't Wanna Do This". An excellent addition to your music collection.
Review: Scott Allen and Against head up this single on Fokuz. Its rattling breaks and gentle chiming intro pave the way into a lush, mellifluous main part full of swishing atmospherics, lush piano keys and snippets of sinuous vocals which are interwoven into the main fabric of the tune effortlessly. Ky and Deeper Connection step up next with "You're The Only One" - a more weighty, stripped back roller with emphasis on the bass and rolling subs. Gentle melodies still populate the track, with ethereal vocals and delicate delivery. One for the liquid lovers.
