Review: La Fraicheur is a resident DJ at Berlin club Wilde Renate and brings a suitably tripped out aesthetic to Prophecy. This is audible on the sped-up chatter and experimental tones of "Renegade" and also on the late night ambient of "Morgan La Nuit". It's no surprise that this sensibility also permeates La Fraicheur's dance floor moments. The moody bass and assured swagger of the club-primed "Tirana" and the irresistibly moody "Gone" both resound to an otherworldliness, while adding to the albums out-there sensibility are the stream of consciousness vocals that accompany the warbling acid of "The Movements" and "The New Is Not Born Yet".
Review: La Fraicheur has been winning praise thanks to a series of releases on Infin?, and now she delivers a blistering EP for Lobster Theremin. "La Fin Du Debut" is a frazzled, stuttering affair, led by fuzzy percussion, while on "Garbage", she layers a stream of consciousness vocal over a niggling groove and ominous bass. On "Renouveau", La Fraicheur goes for an entirely different approach, with menacing, buzz-saw bass unravelling over a stepping rhythm, while the closing track, "Freezing", is the most forceful. Centred on an industrial strength rhythm and visceral low end, it sounds like La Fraicheur's own take on ebm.
Review: As part of their ongoing collaboration, La Fraicheur aka Perrine Sauviat hooks up with Leonard de Leonard for a dancefloor-friendly release. "Rave At Albator's" is a buzzing techno track, with the pair laying down layers of acid over a throbbing bass. On "The House To Yourself", La Fraicheur and the Leonizer label owner opt for a more visceral approach, with dense riffs and repetitive, paranoid vocals unfolding over a pounding groove. The title track is a radical departure from what came before it, as the dynamic duo conjure up an atmospheric minimal house groove. Pounding remakes of "Raves..." from Louisahhh, S Ruston, OCD and Cinder round off this fine EP.
