Review: Lisbon-based Goncalo Salgado aka Lake Haze returns to Shall Not Fade for his third release entitled Henosis, where he experiments with the retro, computer-love aesthetic of chiptune and video game music across 10 tracks. There's the influence of early '90s British IDM on opening cut "Xyleac", some sublime ambient works to be experienced on "Shores Of Eternal Life" or "Blue Suzuki", and deeply contemplative electro beats on the cryptically titled "so45101-51-16" and "Dith0xove" respectively.

Review: Goncalo Salgado aka Lake Haze is a modern-day underground hero, with a catalogue that includes releases on key imprints like Cultivated Electronics and Cr?me Organization. Volcanic Fields, his latest EP for Atlantic Thunder, is sure to endear him further to lovers of widescreen electro and techno. "Underwater Magma" is based on a wiry rhythm and features dramatic synth sweeps, with this combination coming across like Lost Trax at their most majestic. The title track sees Haze delve deeper into electro; led by a wiry bass and crisp 808s, a haunting synth line envelops the arrangement, making for a spellbinding mix of esotericism and funk.

Review: Two years after unleashing his superb debut album on E-Beamz, Goncalo Salgado AKA Lake Haze pops up on Shall Not Fade with a similarly impressive sequel. Often immersive, dreamy and melodic, the set sees the Portuguese producer and sometime Cr?me Organization artist expertly combining elements of deep house, breakbeat, broken beat, electro and acid on a series of spacey, ear-catching cuts. This hybrid style is probably best epitomised by the bubbly slow acid number 'She Took Me To Her Favourite Club', the shuffling deep house melancholy of 'Always By Your Side' and the chunky-but-intergalactic sounding brilliance of 'Liquid Serotonin', but to be honest all eight tracks are excellent.

Review: Sub-titled "the fragile connections we make in today's muddy world of clouds, ego harvesting and AI driven augmented-realities", this compilation on TLR's Creme label moves its way through a series of styles and sounds. From the low-tempo beats of Rhythmic Theory's "Sleeper Cell" to the clanging industrial rhythm and spooked acid of R's "Iron Tusk", and Ekman's wild electro funk "Ecophagy Is A Way Of Life", Nexus succeeds in conjuring up a dense, somewhat bleak mood. Even on more dance floor-focused tracks like Simoncino's super deep "Vingas Theme and the new school jack of DB's "XXX" and", there's an otherworldly atmosphere running through the firing snares and steely grooves.

Review: Lake Haze aka Goncalo Salgado has a small but impressive catalogue that includes records on Creme and One Eyed Jacks, but arguably his best material has been reserved for Unknown To The Unknown. Here, he delivers two contrasting but impressive sounds. The title track is a rich, symphonic house track, its evocative strings and slightly cheesy keys calling to mind Ibizan sunsets. By contrast, "Apollonia" sees Haze get busy with his drum machine and Roland to deliver a furious acid workout that has shades of Armando. Meanwhile, DJ Boring offers another perspective to bear with his remix of the title track. Stripping away the melodies, he delivers a firing, bleepy workout.

Review: Lisbon producer Lake Haze returning to the bastion that is the UTTU imprint with Force Of Nature, an excursion into pure UK styles, fusing classic grime, house, garage and dubstep into a fresh-sounding whole. The elemental names should tell you all you need to know about how fierce these tracks are, with "Tsunami Riddim" and "Lightning Riddim" primed for club play. There's another side though in "Brandy Riddim" and "Vapor Riddim" which takes things back to the '90s - another essential grip from DJ Haus' label!

The boy's done good with these new additions to the label's revered catalogue - "Late Night Trip" is a stomping 4 x 4 wobble belter wrapped in typically trippy, bleepy melodies. However, with its laser blasts, epic synthlines and heavy tropical rhythms, "Need For Speed" ain't just Tom Cruise's favourite, it's ours too!
