Review: Northern Irish techno veteran Phil Kieran seems to be having fun with the Le Carousel alias, which has so far allowed him to indulge his new wave, krautrock, synth-pop, Italo and electro influences. "Destroy Us" is the first Le Carousel single for two years, and sounds like a fusion of Asphodells-ish, shoegaze-influenced kosmiche and early Giorgio Moroder. Given the Asphodells influence, it's probably fitting that Timothy J Fairplay (one half of that act, alongside Andrew Weatherall) contributes a typically eccentric, heavily electronic remix, with bubbling melodies resting on shuffling drum machine percussion. The other remix comes from Love From Outer Space types Hardway Brothers, and brilliantly emphasizes the Moroder style elements will adding a touch of aural dystopia.
