Review: With his debut EP on Watergate Records titled 'Let People Know,' Lehar solidifies his position as a beloved artist at the club's Thursdate residency. Known for his refined sound showcased on labels like Diynamic, Afterlife, Connaisseur Recordings, and Multinotes, the Italian producer doesn't disappoint with this release. The title track is a potent peak-time anthem, blending elements of electro, progressive, and house, enhanced by an uplifting vocal. 'Whispers' takes a dreamier approach, driven by a solid groove and captivating chords, creating a rich atmospheric experience. Rising artist Luke Alessi delivers a sleek remix with an injection of silky acid tech, while Mia Mendi returns with a subtle yet shimmering reimagining, ideal for warm-up sets and home listening.
Review: Hamburg heroes Benjamin Busse, Friso Traas aka Adana Twins delivered the 25th installment in Berlin institution Watergate's esteemed mix series. The second EP released here features exclusive tracks from their riveting mix, included here are: Italian (and fellow Diynamic artist) Lehar getting hypnotically melodic on the sonic sorcery of "Blue Wolf", veteran German producer Acid Pauli going deeper in typically eloquent fashion on g"Geeting From Orgonon" and Sicily's Musumeci - fresh off great releases for Innervision and Bedrock - with the electro tinged progressive house of "Invaders" which is just sublime.
Mark August - "Minor Detail" (original mix) - (7:35) 125 BPM
Review: The fifth installment in this series sees German label Connaisseur compile some of the finest deep house in circulation. Thankfully, nothing here has that mushy sameness that has become so pervasive; instead artists like Timelapse, Distortion and Musumeci bring fragile, floaty melodies and chiming chords to their reduced rhythms and dubby grooves. Few Nolder and Lehar up the ante somewhat and the booming bass and cacophony of chilling strings on the latter's "Sarga" is a thing of wonder. Overall though, it's the reflective approach that impresses most; Sam K's "Elido", with its dreamy pattern of chords and vocal that swoons "I will build a castle with a tower high" is worth the price of this compilation alone
