Leighton, the young visionary talent that co-founded the South West based Drum & Bass label Run Da Riddim. An inspired and deeply dedicated junglist who cut his teeth at iconic Bath event Revelations, Leighton was just emerging and establishing himself as an exciting young new-gen talent when he was tragically taken from us far too soon in a car accident on 21 August 2022, less than 24 hours after he had officially launched Run Da Riddim with a hugely successful Summer Day Event.
Never ever forgotten: Leighton’s spirit, vision and infectious energy were instantly immortalised by his posthumous release Masterpiece, a track that was supported heavily by Laurie Charlesworth on DNB Allstars Radio and playlisted by globally renowned D&B ambassadors Drum&BassArena. It has since experienced tens of thousands of plays and has been supported by DJs across the worldwide bass spectrum.
Leighton has two new tracks on Run Da Riddim’s debut album Sounds Of The Jungle, a unique and powerful VA collection featuring Stop It, a collaboration with fellow Run Da Riddim resident OP Breaks, and Jungle Mayhem, a posthumous collaboration with his former tutor, Euphonique. The album climaxes with a brand new version of Masterpiece featuring vocalist Marns. Leighton had completed several tracks, along with many unfinished tunes that will provide a steady flow of new music to be released on Run Da Riddim for months to come.
Leighton was described by the mighty Jungle Cakes as a “young junglist with a bright future in drum and bass” with his track Masterpiece “demonstrating really good production skills with great bass edits.”
Laurie Charlesworth from DnB All Starts Drum and Bass Radio added he “absolutely poured his heart and soul into the [drum and bass] genre”, with Euphonique describing him as a “great student and true D&B soldier”.
