Review: Having previously impressed via a series of fine releases on Monologue Recordings, Leon Revol continues to hit all the right notes. There's plenty to get the juices flowing on this first Beats of No Nation outing, not least a couple of fantastic cuts ("If Terry Was in D" and "Soundtrack To Charlie") that pepper sturdy disco-house style grooves with all manner of jazzy samples and instrument solos. The EP also boasts a sumptuous chunk of drowsy and dreamy deep house ("9 to 9"), a head-nodding trip into blazed instrumental hip-hop territory (the horizontal brilliance of "Lou Bet Sou") and a remix of "If Terry Was in D" by Jad Lee (as Jad & The) that fantastically fuses sun-kissed deep house dreaminess with the rhythmic punch of two-step garage.

Review: Leon Revol is a producer from Bordeaux, France. Formerly known as Leonid. (with a full stop) some of you may know him from his releases on labels such as Dolly, Monologues and Boutade Musique. Under his birth name this will mark his second release since last year. To start, we've got the deep, jazzy and soulful jam "Far With A Van" which kinda reminds us of those summery jams from the early noughties by Ian Pooley and St Germain. Also on offer is the sublime and ethereal with its reversed guitars semi-showgaze style, dusty beats and all round emotive elements bound to get some smiley faces on the dancefloor. Then follows an honorable mention to the dubby and hypnotic bliss of "St James" which takes it down a notch or two in great style.

Review: France's deep house scene seems to be in rude health right now. Bordeaux-based Leon Revol may not be the highiest profile of Gallic producers, but his track record is nonetheless impressive. Here he returns to the home comforts of Monologues following a recent outing on Future Disco. He begins with the sun-kissed, bossa-tinged jazz-house loveliness of "Pink Coffee" - all Pat Metheny guitar flourishes, gentle Afro chants and Nicola Conte-goes-house drums - before wrapping spine-tingling piano motifs around a rolling groove on the delicious "Embers". "Sun is the Place" sees him saunter into the sunlight in the company of woozy synths and yearning deep house drums, while "Birds" effortlessly joins the dots between contemporary French deepness and the '90s Italian dream house movement.

Review: More sublime sounds from Bordeaux, France based Leon Revol: simply the alias of a guy on the lookout of hypnotic and groovy stuff. This is following on from his Embers EP on label Monologues and is his debut for London based Future Disco. The deep and mellow cut "Undiscovered Time' combines his usual brilliant knack for intricate percussive grooves plus hazy keys, snatches of orchestral majestry and thick bass rumbles. Solid grooves right here!

Review: Leon Revel's track record to date is impressive, to say the least, with inspired outings on Secret Reels, Monologue, Kolour Recordings and Beats of No Nation earning him plaudits left, right and centre. There's naturally much to enjoy on this atmospheric, dreamy and sample-rich Apparel Music debut, too, not least the ultra-deep and jazzy shuffle of opener "Green Plus", where twinkling piano solos, drowsy chords and MPC house beats catch the ear. He dips the tempo for the arguably even deeper and more seductive "Realized You Shine", before working his magic with a bunch of jazz-funk and dewy-eyed jazz-fusion samples on mid-tempo gem "Third Rhythm". Speaking of jazz-funk, there are hints of Herbie Hancock and Kaidi Tatham on dreamy, acid-flecked deep jack-track "Warm Pattern".
