Review: After 13 years, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990's Night Slugs label has amassed a vast catalogue of classic cuts. It's ripe for remixing, and they've duly delivered - with a little help from a whole heap of talented artists - on a 23-track set that may turn out to be one of the compilations of 2023. In keeping with the label's forward-thinking, hard-to-pigeonhole approach, there are all sorts of fine fusions and genre-bending revisions on show, as well as plenty of bona fide peak-time killers. Highlights include DJ Polo and NKC's bouncy, bass-heavy and stab-happy revision of 'Melba's Call' by Bok Bok, Scratcha DVA's punishing, speaker-bothering rework of Girl Unit's 'IRL', a redlined, percussion-heavy OSSX tweak of L-Vis 1990's 'Video Drone' and a thrillingly hectic, sweat-soaked, rave-igniting Bored Lord version of Helix's 'Drum Track'.

Review: As ever with Night Slugs, it's safe to expect the unexpected as they hear invite the futuristic grooves of Leonce into the frame for a six track showcase of his super unique sound. We begin with the shimmering, super panned noisey smashes and shimmering chords of the title track 'Tripwires', which is chased up in style by the epic drum-heavy melodic progressions of 'Shutter Down' and the super suspenseful sweeps of 'Quantanoir'. Next up, we leap into the rapidfire metallic percussive smashes of 'Extrapolation' and the pumping drum bounces the lead the way within 'Shade Incarnate' which features some fantastic vocal additions from Ash B, who puts the finishing touches on yet another stunning body of work for the Night Slugs catalogue.

Review: Forgotten Light man Leonce Nelson made his name by creating bespoke, off-kilter hip-hop and bass-heavy R&B remixes of Beyonce, Rihanna and Keyshia Cole. Here, he delivers his debut album, Insurgency. It's a pleasingly entertaining and varied affair that moves from the foreboding melodic motifs and bustling drums of "Snakes" to the UK funky influenced hustle of "Truffle Track", via a series of hard-to-pigeonhole cuts that draw inspiration from various hip-hop and electronica styles. Highlights include the booming, tropical influenced percussion and humid melodies of "Marimba Track", the undulating and bass heavy intensity of "Jungle" and the upbeat, carnival-friendly celebration that is "Apparition"
