Review: Lewis Fautzi returns to MORD after a string of releases for Soma, Pole and his own Faut Section imprint. The title track resounds to frosty synth loops and fractured percussion, with this combination unfolding over lead-weight kicks. On "Danger or Threat", Fautzi goes deeper. Reverberating claps and subtle filters are to the fore as he sketches out a dubby but still dancefloor-focused track. In contrast, "Confused" is a pared back minimal track. Led by a galloping groove, it sees Fautzi drop dissected percussion. Rounding off the release is "Unprincipled". Centred on a driving rhythm, it's a dense affair, grounded in textured percussion and powered by tough kicks.

Review: Following releases on Mord, Soma and his own Faut Section - home to the recent Manner Of Death album - Lewis Fautzi drops this four-tracker on Polegroup. "Total Absence" kick-starts the EP to the sound of robust drums and a growling bass, with Fautzi adding in rasping percussion. "Ground State" is a rolling affair, where the dense drums are populated with tonal bleeps. "Paranoia" sees Fautzi go down a more hypnotic route, as layered tones unfold over a throbbing groove. It's only a temporary distraction, and "Uncertainty" is a peak-time track that resounds to powerful, sweeping filters and a relentless groove.

Review: The latest release on Faut Section is a dynamic split EP. It opens with "Code Of Deception", a collaboration between label owner Lewis Fautzi and Norbak. Centred on a tough, stepping rhythm, it sees the duo factor in dubbed out percussion for maximum impact. Oscar Mulero's "Zw System" is more direct; it features a rolling, tribal groove, populated by a cacophony of frazzled percussion. Temudo's "Niiv" also makes use of metallic hi hats, but has a punchier feel, thanks to the use of dense kicks. "Time Domain" by Kessell pushes in an opposite direction: focused on a visceral bass and a stepping rhythm, it's a distinctive but functional affair.

Having been a mainstay on the Soma roster for a decade, Fautzi has made a name for himself as one of techno's most recognizable acts, with a sound that has evolved over the years while remaining fresh and modern. The EP opens with 'Density', a visceral and hypnotic track that builds with electric synth hooks and subtle drive. 'Severity' takes things down a dark and hypnotic path, guided by polyrhythmic percussion and a pulsating groove. Review: Bas Mooy's label brings together an impressive cast of producers for its latest compilation. The ominous bass on Mascon's "Nenner" lends the track an ebm sensibility, while Exium's "Dark Voids" is more in keeping with convention, fuelled by powerful filters and a steely, slamming rhythm. While there are intense contributions - in particular, Antony Doria's "Uprite" is visceral hard techno at its finest - Herdersmat impresses most when contributing artists provide their own interpretations of sub-genres. Takaaki Itoh's "Implement" is a mesmerising piece of hypnotic, droning techno, while on "Hdmt" UVB delivers a compelling version of Downwards' broken beat sound, replete with swirling textures.

Review: Having released for labels like Soma, Bpitch and Mord in recent years, Lewis Fautzi returns to his own imprint to deliver Neurohumoral Transmission. In keeping with his tough but nuanced sound, the title track resounds to layers of murky textures, which are underpinned by a driving, relentless rhythm. "Symptomatic" follows a similar path, with the Faut Section boss serving up a murky groove that's shot through with utilitarian percussive ticks. "Adjacent Grain" is more extreme and features grainy drums supporting bursts of visceral noise, while Rodhad's take on "Symptomatic" is a dystopian affair that is built on a linear rhythm and intense layers of percussion.

"Induced Pulse" resounds to booming broken beats and is swathed in dense textures and dissected vocal hooks - a nod to the signature sound of label owner Oscar Mulero. On "Undirected Differential", Fautzi pushes in a more linear direction: powered by grimy kicks and unflinching percussion, it's an effective, stripped back track. "Intense Mechanism" continues farther down this path: soundtracked by eerie filters, powerful bass drums and wiry percussion, this combination makes for a crafty peak time workout. "Stimulated Desorption" is the most intense track on offer here though, with the Portuguese producer dropping a pulsating, throbbing peak-time groove powered by waves of percussive crescendos.

On "Another Try", Fautzi opts for a straighter approach, delivering pounding bass drums and swirling, hypnotic textures. He maintains a hectic pace on "Inwards", with hypnotic drones unravelling over tight kicks, while on "Complete Cycle" Fautzi ventures farther into an industrial direction. Led by a pounding drum track, the backing arrangement underpins layer upon layer of noisy electronic tones - a rousing finale to this fine release.

This is an expertly crafted big room techno release; the title track centres on a pounding drum pattern, with phased filters and a one-note riff a constant throughout the arrangement. "Epidemic of Wellness" opts for a slightly more nuanced sound, as a dense, tribal rhythm provides the basis for repetitive stabs and soaring, filtered riffs. Soma has also tapped two emerging producers as remixers: N?rbak turns the title track into a more linear, streamlined rhythm, while Temudo's version of "Wellness" focuses on a frazzled electro bass and busy, nagging percussion.
