Review: The latest audio salvo on the revitalized Classic Music Company imprint comes from two scene stalwarts: Doc Martin (here donning the very occasional Sublevel moniker), and Blakkat man Mark Bell (AKA Blakdoktor). In its' original version, "Promise" sits somewhere between chunky, Sound Factory-era NYC house, and the kind of sun-kissed breeziness more associated with the San Francisco deep house scene. It features a fine vocal from regular Doc Martin collaborator Lillia, whose delivery perfectly compliments' the production duo's throbbing bassline and dreamy pads. Fellow deep house veteran Martin 'Atjazz' Iveson provides two remixes: a chunky, organ-laced Floor Dub that boasts some delicious new keys and an even heavier bassline, and a typically deep and dreamy vocal Remix.
