Review: In 2020 fire breathing Swedish pop sweethearts Little Dragon made their jump to Ninja Tune with the New Me, Same Us album. In 2021 comes a remix package featuring Octo Octa, Midland, and Detroit house wonder producer Andres. Night Slugs associate Lil Silva drops in with a softly percussive remix of "Rush", with soul-singer vocalist Georgia Anne Muldrow covering "Hold On" in her remix. Fellow Ninja Tune associate Pote is also commissioned to contribute a remake of "Hold On" that sounds like it was made inside of a tropical greenhouse - with French Kiwi Juice's remix coming from the steam room next door, piano tips and all. Little Dragon, too, find themselves on the line up with a "Vocal Celebration Mix" of their recent collaboration with Moses Sumney, "The Other Lover".
Review: Little Dragon trail album number six with a single release for the title cut, and what a monster it is! Centred around an unfussy, throbbing bassline and sporting female-sung verses but a male "Do you wanna be my girl? I wanna be your man" chorus, it evokes classic R&B remixes of yore (think Morales's take on Lidell Townsell or MK's Jodeci reworks) and, in a just world, would be No 1 on the global pop charts for the rest of the year. Similar alt-R&B stylings inspire 'In My House' and the slightly Deee-Lite-esque 'Timothy' but it's the title track that's the stone-cold killer here.
