Review: As the title makes perfectly clear, the latest compilation from Mike Fresco and Fred Everything's Lazy Days Recordings label offers up a wealth of new and old reworks from the imprint's sizable vaults. Fred Everything is naturally prominent throughout both as remixer - see the distinctive takes on cuts by OJPB (a sun-flecked Afro-house revision of "Bridgetown's Pyramid") and Art of Tones (a lushly deep and dreamy remix of "Koniokola") - and original artist (check Sphiwe Caz-Miz's deep, dusty and woozy tweak of "Searching" and Ian Pooley's bright and breezy revision of "Silverlight"). Elsewhere Jimpster steals the show with a superb version of Martin Iveson's "Leave Me Here", Hot Toddy gets discofied on his LLorca remix and the Revenge weighs in with a jaunty, synth-heavy house rework of Art of Tones' "Unstopped").

Review: "Wonderwhy" was one of the many highlights on Llorca's jazz-funk-fired 2017 album, "The Garden". Here it gets the remix treatment, with Crazy P man Chris Todd (under his now familiar Hot Toddy moniker) and Lazy Days boss Fred Everything doing the honours. Todd's vocal "Remix" and "Instrumental" versions are predictably musical and melodious, sitting somewhere between spacey, synth-heavy nu-disco, fizzing jazz-funk and rolling deep house. Fred Everything takes a different approach, opting for a "Space Edit" and "Space Edit Instrumental" that slightly dub out and heat up the original's 95 BPM jazz-funk/disco fusion flex.

Review: French soul legend Ludovic Llorca made a welcome comeback to the industry with his long awaited full length 'The Garden' early in 2017 - his first new material in 16 years! It was certainly worth the wait and proved that sometimes it really is quality, not quantity. The man behind such timeless classics as "Indigo Blues" and "Precious Thing" now presents two selections from the LP, that have been remixed with a distinctively French Touch - when only the best will do! These remixes come courtesy of Parisian imprint Sampling As An Art, run by none other than S3A: who serves up a typically dusty and deep rendition of "All Right" that's suited to sexy late night mood lighting. There is also a handy Radio Edit featured for your convenience. Also worthy of mention is Rim Laurens rendition of "Waiting", where the Nardonne native delivers an emotive trip-hop rendition reminiscent of Bristolian colelcitve Wild Bunch and their output in the 90s.

Review: French soul jazz merchant Ludovic Llorca returns for his first album since 2001's well received New Corner LP on F Communications where he was blessed with being the resident jazz act after the departure of St Germain for Blue Note Records. Llorca remained surprisingly quiet ever since but the guy is back with a vengeance on this great album, The Garden. "Wonderwhy" channels the best of Curtis Mayfield's signature sound, the deep ballad "Addiction Days" is backed by a strong strings section for Hayley Hiatt's heart wrenching vocals and lead single "Waiting" will get a spring in your heel much like it did for us when we heard this powerful funk explosion in the office that day!
