Review: At last we see the highly anticipated LP return of LockJaw who has worked out a very precise tracklisting for his brand new four tracker, which goes by the name of 'Human Research'. We kick off with the smooth marimba led introduction of 'Second Chance', which descends rapidly into a synth bomb of rhythmic pressure and reesey overloads come the breakdown. Next up, we are blessed with the explosive neuro textures of the title track 'Human Research' along with the scattered hardcore piano chord movements and charged up vocal slicings of 'Without You' before wrapping up with 'Velveteen'. This one is a real soulful addition to the tracklisting, primarily down to Quails and her stunning vocal performance, atop smooth key melodies and tight drum work.

Championing both blisteringly fresh talent (Incognito, Simple Technique, Phentix) and pioneers (Mefjus, Current Value) at a commendable unhurried pace, and hosting some legendary parties along the way, they now unlock album warrior mode with this sterling document of furious futurism. Showcasing not only Cyberfunk's ear for forefront compositions but drum & bass's current rude health the entire album is soaking in innovation. Highlights include the detailed percussion and walloping subs of Sub Marine's "Club Mate", Phentix's grizzly cyber-neuro "Complex System", Simple Technique's thundering halftime robot hip-hop stampede "Gorilla" and Xtrah's seasick flabby bass textures on "Nachtmuzik". Review: Noisia's label for experimental, low freq sounds pushes its recruitment drive with this, a staggeringly good four-parter featuring some of the most sought-after names in dark and heavy beats. Kicking off with Lockjaw's methodically heavy "Obsidian", the producer takes his production into brooding territory while remaining technically astute. (Check his Tumblr too, man's a decent production blogger). Subtention's "Midnight Flush" ticks and shuffles its way through footwork-inspired beats, playing nastily with minimal, deadly bass. "Cotton Punch" comes next from the ever challenging Current Value and this is no exception - get ready to be pushed - while Berlin-based newcomer Survey offers up deep, minimal subs and rolling percussion for the perfect bleak, underground vibe.
