Halahaches - (7:04)
114 BPM Xalpen (alternate version) - (5:57) 114 BPM
Review: Following well-received outings on Wonder Stories and Logical, Los Fugazzi make their debut on the long running Emerald & Doreen imprint. Hain is their most expansive release yet, with six synth-heavy cuts to choose from. They begin with the psychedelic lead lines and chugging, gently foreboding grooves of "Halahaches", before doffing a cap to Daft Punk, electro-rock and tactile synth boogie on the crunchy "Kran". "Shoort" [sic] is a thrusting, dark Italo-disco throbber of the Rotterdam variety, while "Tanu" tips a wink to minimal wave and early new beat. A solid EP concludes with two versions of "Xalpen": the sparkling stabs and mutant Italo-disco bottom end of the original version, and the stripped back, slightly funkier Alternate Version.
