Review: This latest helping of futuristic goodness from the Top Drawer Digital team sees them dive into their third full length compilation drop, once again expanding the 'Abstractions' series with a solid helping of new school breakbeat flavour. Featuring 36 creations, this selection is a DJ's secret weapon for certain, with the likes of Kefford, Sub Fusion, Outrage, Sanxion, S.U.R.E and Nyxen alongside many more delivering top quality additions to the track listing. For us, this is a project best absorbed through the attached continuous DJ MIX, but our standouts would have to include the brain-boggling wave synth work of The Rumblist's 'Mind Blown', alongside the more throwback metallic dinks of Lucas's 'Light & High Beauty' original. Sensational stuff from all involved.
Review: As a fantastic way to close out the year, we see the Future Follower's team linking up for an end of year disco, welcoming 20 tracks onto the label via their brand new 'Decade' compilation series. Through a vibrant combination of genres and styles, we see the likes of Digital Pilgrimz, RDubz, Sirmo, Shiva, Sketia and more all getting involved, sweeping from raucous dubstep designs to more dancefloor driven bassline bangers. It's a very vibrant collection and is a fantastic way for the label to celebrate a decade of activity, with our favourite features including the electrifying synthesiser work of Reigamortis' 'Hondo', next to the creepy soundscapes and blippy delays of 'Abyss Stare' from Kyoshe', with the unique, funk infused layouts of MAW's 'Jazztalk' also turning a few heads. Exceptional stuff!
Review: Following some great releases by Kamiokande and Rawtrachs, Manchester-based imprint Torre returns this week with a solid various artists compilation. Attack / Decay / Sustain Volume. 02 features proper UK underground flava, such as by old-school hardcore legend Justice who opens up with the previously unreleased track "Rude Boy Movements", West Norwood Cassette Library also appears with the stomping house workout of "Wanna Rock, Amaretto's classic jungle deconstruction "Itch" had us impressed, as did Denham Audio's emotive drum 'n' bass roller "Sound Boy Shut Up".
