Review: Vocalist Simone Olayemi Adefikayo Ogunbunm, better known simply as Mama, has a long track record of featuring on other people's records, including those by Tiefschwarz, Hannah Holland and Argy. Here, she returns to occasional home Batty Bass for a single of her own, produced by Toy Tonics twosome Black Loops. The full "long version" is something of a beast: an Afro-tinged chunk of dub house/deep house fusion, in which Ogunbumm's poetic vocals rise above alien chords, skewed analogue bass and ricocheting percussion hits. It's really rather good, as are the accompanying remix. UK veteran Ashley Beedle delivers a deliciously deep and sun-kissed Afro-house interpretation, before W Jeremy unfurls the tougher and chunkier - but still rich and woozy - Deep Rhythm Mix.
