Review: Ever since making his debut on Wiggle way back in 2005, Manuel Sahagun has delivered a steady stream of high-quality releases that variously explore his takes on deep house and tech-house. What Is Time?, the Argentinian producer's first outing on Minor Notes, is typically accomplished, interesting and analogue rich. He first joins the dots between laidback electro, acid house and turn-of-the-90s deep house on 'Le Mirage', before opting for a more rolling, hypnotic, late-night house sound on 'Future On Earth'. '2 Hour Roots' sounds like Larry Heard jamming with Boyd Jarvis, Timmy Regisford and freestyle-era Louie Vega, while 'Early & Late' is a picturesque, slow-motion house number tailor-made to soundtrack sunsets and sunrises.

Review: Since launching his career in the mid noughties, Manuel Sahagun has released a lot of fine deep house music on a wide variety of labels - including such lauded imprints as Drop Music, Salted Music, Kolour, Tooman and Freerange. Here the Argentinian producer returns to the latter label with his first missive of 2022. Opener 'Body' sets the tone, with Sahagun wrapping restless piano loops, wonky electronics, cut-up musical samples and stirring chords around a disco-tinged deep house beat. 'Move' meanwhile is a deeper but arguably tougher chunk of late-night hedonism, while 'Ritmo Pandemico' sounds like his take on turn-of-the-90s Italian dream house. It's certainly as luscious, ear-pleasing and loved-up as the likes of 'Sueno Latino', 'Calypso of House' and 'Alone'.

Review: Buenos Aries-based Manuel Sahagun has appeared on my much-loved deep house labels over the years - think Freerange, Drop Music, Salted Music and Kolour Recordings - so it's little surprise to see him popping up on Lazy Days Recordings. All three tracks naturally hit the spot, with the Argentinian reaching for colourful synth sounds, tactile basslines and well-programmed drums. Opener 'La Terre' is a sparkling, sun-drenched slab of nu-disco/deep house fusion rich in vivid melodies and low-end thrust, 'Kick To Flip' is a more hypnotic slab of dub-flecked, acid bass-propelled late-night house, and 'Rest in Sax' is a deliciously jazzy fusion of body-popping electro drums, squelchy synths, trippy TB-303 lines and heady saxophone blasts.

Review: Nu disco re-edit label Editorial seem to be continuing on their recent deep slo-mo direction. Their fifth label comp/EP sees them in fine fettle, with Sellouts delivering the deep n loopy "Satisfy" (a deceptively powerful dancefloor builder), Deep&Disco's "Otis Held Tight" is a beautifully sparse yet soulful outing, Manuel Shagun's "So Good" provides an amazing glammy disco stomp, riddled with samples and all the better for it, while the party winds up with the cruising blue sky funk of The Noodleman's "3rd Time".

Review: On the label's latest compilation of recent releases, overlooked treats and previously unreleased gems, Lazy Days Recordings is showcasing the more sun-splashed and summery end of the imprint's frequently gorgeous output. Naturally, there's plenty to set the pulse racing throughout, from the throbbing mid-tempo deep house disco of Milton Jackson and Ski Oakenfull's 'Got To Find' and the P-funk-flavoured sun-down deepness of Art of Tones' sublime remix of 'Rusty Lewis' by Beau Zwart, to the hypnotic, low-slung and dubbed-out peak-time brilliance of Manuel Sagahun's 'Kick To Flip' and the gorgeous soulfulness of Matt Masters' 'I've Opened My Eyes'. As you'd expect, there are also quite a few killer contributions from label co-founder Fred Everything, including a fine collaboration with fellow deep house veteran Atjazz ('Stay a Little While').
