Review: Most labels and collectives are challenged to last a decade in electronic music's fleeting landscape, but so far Kompakt has endured for twice this lifespan. This is largely due to the fact that the Cologne operation boasts a tightly-knit group of artists who continue to release on its many labels. For the twentieth edition of the annual Total compilation series, many of those producers come correct; Robag Wruhme and founder Michael Mayer both deliver ponderous deep techno tracks, while Jurgen Paape goes even farther, veering into guitar-spangled melancholia on "Vox Acris". This introspective mood seeps through to more overt dance floor tracks, with Sascha Funke's eerie "Atze" and Voigt & Voigt's "Schopper Da Leu" delivering understated but impactful results.

Review: John Digweed looks back on a terrific year that was 2018 - not to mention the 20th anniversary of his Bedrock label. This last year saw him serve up the Bedrock XX box set, team up with good mate Nick Muir on the terrific "Crazy Diamond" in addition to his awesome Live In Tokyo mix CD - so there's plenty to celebrate. Featured here are some of the year's highlights and exclusives alike by heroes of deep tech house such as: Booka Shade with their moody cruiser "Rosebud", Belgian veteran Jimmy Van M appears several times but is most on-form on "Cobalt", Systematic head honcho Marc Romboy with his impressive sci-fi epic "Cosmo" and the return of trance legend Oliver Lieb on the riveting "Epoxi".

Review: It's that time again: Cologne institution Kompakt return with their annual round up of what's hot in contemporary house and techno - all with the distinct hallmarks in harmony with their aesthetic: deep, intelligent and absolutely evocative. Rest assured that all the usual suspects appear - label stalwarts such as Jorg Burger, Jurgen Paape, Gui Boratto and of course head honchos the Voigt brothers. Elsewhere there are some regulars and newbies alike such as Los Angeleno Sonns on the sun-kissed and tripped-out "Tame" (feat Beesh), veteran John Tejada with the bold melodics of "Detector" (a cut from his brilliant new Dead Start Program LP), lo-slung cosmo-balearica by Ghost Vision on "Zuul" and the legendary Jake Williams aka Rex The Dog on the epic dance floor drama of "Crasher". Another tremendously curated compilation that's essential listening.

Review: It's that time again: Berlin institution Innervisions returns and rounds up this year's melodic techno futurists on Secret Weapons' tenth edition. Indeed it's a big one, but not with the usual suspects, would you believe. Take for instance Marc Romboy: the German tech house legend behind the respected Systematic imprint appears with the spacey and euphoric dancefloor drama of "Infrared", rising star of the Berlin scene Nitam (previously on Ostgut Ton sister label Unterton) appears also with the seething, late night adrenaline of "JS/42" which nails that Panorama Bar vibe so nicely. Elsewhere, the always impressive Southern Italian duo Underspreche make a welcome appearance with "From The Exotism To The Future" yet another example of their contorted take on Afro house, while minimal don Marc Houle reappears, with a nifty rework by German power duo Frankey & Sandrino on the epic journey of "Paligama"

Review: Marc Romboy's esteemed tech house imprint has reached its 77th release? You bet! And it goes out all guns blazing this time around with a massive compilation with some great tracks, new and old, by the likes of Robert Babicz, Guy Mantzur, Wehbba and Stephan Bodzin. There are some pretty kick ass remixes on offer too by the likes of Adam Port, Adriatique, Nick Curly and Petar Dundov. Highlights? Head honcho Romboy's rendition of OCH's "Time Tourism", Ibadan boss Jerome Sydenham's ecstatic "Systematic Dub" and Technasia's druggy and tunnelling odyssey "Hold Me".

Review: A collection of the German duo's collaborations stretching back to the middle of the last decade, Luna shows that good ideas and original production never age. Although this release features a long list of high-profile remixers - our favourites include Moritz Van Oswald's dubby, understated take on "Phobos" and Roman Flugel's spiky house version of "The Phoenix" - the duo's own productions are the real highlights. Both "Luna" and "Atlas" are underpinned by mid-tempo, unfussy rhythms and pulsing basslines, with the latter unfolding to reveal a spine-tingling melody. "Callisto" is an evocative ambient piece reminiscent of classic Eye Q and the epic synths on "Hydra" relive that distinctive central European sense of melancholia that Kraftwerk pioneered.
