Review: John Digweed presents Futuro: a 25-track compilation celebrating 25 years of his hugely influential Bedrock label (established in 1999). Taking in the likes of Bushwacka with tracks like "Lectrobee" to the "Bleu Cobalt" studio collaboration between Digweed, Nick Muir, and Captain Mustache - other notables here include label legends and associates like Marco Bailey, David Morales and Rodriguez Jr. Replete with uplifting melodies, pulsating rhythms and progressive hose suggestions, there's extra slices of techno from Raxon, next to select cuts by Sasha Carassi, Lost Desert, and Weska all the more. Bedrock's best.

Review: Marco Bailey teams up with Sigvard, better known as Tom Hades. With a combined experience that spans decades, the pair come together to deliver a distinctive but hard-hitting release. The title track is a relentless, sheet metal roller that progresses to reveal icy synth builds. "Careless Spectrum" is deeper but still primed for the dance floor as the duo layer insistent chord builds over a pulsating groove. "Modern Wolf" also reveals a fresh approach; based on a throbbing low end and rattling percussion, it sounds like a contemporary take on ebm. But that doesn't mean they have forgotten their roots and closing track "Royal Resistance" is a chord-heavy loop techno workout.

Review: COD3 QR's 'Artist Code' series continues to push the boundaries of electronic music with a diverse range of tracks selected by industry legends Laurent Garnier & Scan X. The latest release emphasises the importance of eclecticism, open-mindedness, and non-conformity in the genre, featuring tracks across a variety of sub-genres. The focus is solely on the music, free from any biases or expectations. We were really feeling Artist Code 414C4D's slinky and hypnotic "El Dia De La Pantera", the moody and epic dancefloor drama of Artist Code 4D422E on "Liquid Room" as well as the deep late night mood music of Artist Code 414C46 & Artist Code 524F43's "In Da Hood" (extended mix), the dystopian electro battle beats of Artist Code 4D5452 on "Verum Verbum" and the spiritual life music of Artist Code 505241's "Get A Life Back".

Review: The Cocoon compilation series has become an unofficial state of the nation statement for modern house and techno, and the latest instalment is no exception. It features deep, Detroit styled grooves from Damiano van Erckert and Stephen Brown alongside more accessible minimal house from Claude Von Stroke and murky, analogue jams, including the layered, dubbed out Daniel Avery track, "Your Future Looks Different in the Light". The compilation series has also been successful in spotlighting emerging artists, and volume T is no exception, as it shines a light on Yokto's bass-heavy deep house and the swaggering electro-techno of Defekt's "Terraform".

Review: Marco Bailey should require no introduction. Throughout a career spanning nearly three decades, the Belgian veteran makes a more than worthy appearance here on Berlin institution Watergate. The From My Mind EP begins with the epic main room techno workout "The Spirit", then, as heard on other recent material by him, Bailey leans into electro territory on the title track which carries on his research into sci-fi beats. Remixes come from German 'maximal' heroes Extrawelt who take the track further into future realms, while label staple Biesmans gives it a pumping, Italo disco style re-rub.

Review: The brainchild of Laurent Garnier and Scan X, the COD3 QR label now releases its first album. As always, the identity / identities of who is behind the music remains a mystery, but there is no doubt that each track exudes quality. "Fully Focused" and "Dong" are fine, Detroit techno-inspired jams, with the epic synths on the former and a booming bass on the latter really impressing. Meanwhile, the brooding build up on "Melancolia" is exactly the kind of spine-tingling moment you'd expect to hear in a Laurent Garnier set. In contrast, "Keep On Holding" is a beautiful break beat track, populated by glacial synths. All these tracks come together to make for a great first LP from COD3 QR.

Review: Hot on the heels of last year's Meteorite Impact collaboration, techno veteran Marco Bailey teams up again with Sigvard. "Enlighten Your Mindset" is a drawn out, break beat-led piece, where the combination of grungy bass and brooding chimes creates an atmospheric feeling. In contrast, they drop a fast-paced, steely rhythm on "In Motion", while "Increasing Admiration" sees Bailey hark back to his loop techno days, as a dense groove resonates to insistent stabs. "Unjust Images" sees this partnership shift focus again; the beats are sparse and a forlorn melody works its way through the arrangement. Closing out this diverse EP is the glitchy, frenetic techno of "Save the Soul of Mankind".

Review: Tronic has decided to celebrate its 400th release by issuing the second edition of its More Than Machine electro series. It gets off to an impressive start with label owner Christian Smith delivering an ominous slice of machine funk on "I Want It", before Carl Finlow drops a lithe rhythm and powerful low end in the shape of "Anomaly 3" and Detroit veteran DJ Godfather up the pace with the twitchy "Invasion of Detroit". But the presence of these veteran electro producers proves to be the exception rather than the rule, and the rest of Machine features techno artists exploring less well-known paths. Samuel Session impresses with the gritty, angular "Engine of War" and Alexander Kowalski deploys his bass-heavy approach to the nocturnal "Flickering Lights".
