Review: The second RSPX compilation picks up where the first volume left off, with a focus on crafty house and techno jams. This aesthetic is at the heart of the raw, jacking groove of Radio Slave's "F__k Em" and "This Is Our Groove" a hypnotic, minimal house workout from Rekids regular Confidential Recipe and Lady Tazz. It's also audible on the compilation's techno contributions: Slam's "Beat Control" sees the Soma duo infuse a looped groove with insistent, pitch-bent vocal samples and V111's "East Sex Rave" is a rousing, chord heavy affair. Meanwhile, Markus Suckut's "Flux" takes inspiration from Octave One's primal funk to bring the compilation to a mesmerising climax.

Review: Since launching in 2012, Jaymo and Andy George's Moda Black label - an offshoot of their already successful Moda label - has steadily risen to become one of the most well-regarded house labels around. The imprint's style - a tactile, atmospheric blend of tech-house, deep house, bass and woozy, funk-fuelled big room grooves - seems to have a knack of capturing the zeitgeist. Here, the two label owners deliver the third instalment in their annual mix series, showcasing tracks released by the imprint in the last 12 months. Smooth, accessible and entertaining, with plenty of standout cuts (see the warehouse acid of Sidney Charles' "Wax Digger '88" and Hauswerks & Saul Summers' sweaty "Just Want U"), Moda Black Volume III is a fitting celebration of a label whose stock continues to rise.

Review: The latest collection on Loco Dice's label is its most wide-ranging release yet. It veers from the minimal/tribal fusion of Shlomi Aber's "Mind Tribus" and the drum-heavy workout of San Francisco veteran Joeski's "Beware of the Drum" to the deep, bleepy techno of Anthea's "Booty Call". It's true that Desolat's main focus is European house and techno, but this compilation embraces US influences. Robert Dietz's "You're So Hood" fuses sleazy p-funk bass with the primal stomp of Cajmere, while Detroit producer Eddie Fowlkes provides the raw back beats and muffled vocal samples of the sublime "I'm Telling You".

Review: Marco Faraone follows a series of Eps on Rekids with his eagerly-awaited debut album. Opening ambient track "Force Deep" and the languid break beats of "Iconic" both hint at a more experimental side to Faraone's canon. Meanwhile, the high-paced "Addiction", with its repetitive vocal sample and pulsating rhythm, as well as the rolling esoteric electro of "No Filter" present different deeper sides to this talented Italian producer's palette. At the same time, Filter is also a ringing endorsement of what Faraone does best and "Night Ride", "Frog Face" and the acid-heavy "Trust Me" see him shift back to the type of linear, drum-heavy track he excels at.

Review: It sounds like Rekids has gone back to its roots. On Marco Faraone's third release for the label, a tough, sample-heavy house sound prevails; it's audible on the title track, where vocals are chopped up and layered over steely tribal drums, insistent thunder claps and ominous chord stabs. "Hardgroove Community" features a faster tempo, but some of the same elements - the looped vocal samples and tough kicks - remain at the heart of this arrangement. Meanwhile, "Survive" sees the Italian producer opt for a more tracky approach, with the track's name intoned in monotonous fashion over a heads-down rhythm. "Not A Crime" completes this old school-inspired EP, with churning chords and joyous screeches unravelling over banging drums

Review: Etruria Beat founders Faraone and Agnelli deliver a excellent DJ tool release for Loco Dice's label. The title track sets the tone, its rasping percussion and insistent drums laying the basis for a series of deranged vocal samples. They keep "Last Call" instrumental, with a percussive groove rolling and filtering all the way through, supported by reverberated drums. But the duo are also clearly interested in using the human voice as an instrument and the drum-heavy "La Feria" is full of out there voices, while 'Hold It Like That' features dreamy synths and a spaced out woman intoning the track's title.

Review: For the second set of No Filter remixes, label owner Matt Edwards aka Radioslave takes on Faraone's "Addiction". This new version draws on grating synth stabs and a jacking, insistent rhythm. Combined with relentless percussion and a series of deft drops, it's tailor made for peak time use. The label has also tapped Gene Richards Jr, who has released on Faraone's Uncage, to remix "Frog Face" - and his version inhabits a similar space as the Radioslave remix: led by a firing groove that's populated by chopped up vocal samples and tweaked tones, it's sure to cause dance floor mayhem when clubs re-open this summer.

Review: Marco Faraone follows last year's Don't Need You release on Rekids with this tough but soulful EP. The title track revolves around an insistent, chugging groove that resounds to insistent chord stabs and repetitive vocal loops. On "Want Me", the Italian producer toughens up his approach, and uses dense drums and an insistent rhythm to provide the basis for what sounds like a vocal sample from Aretha Franklin's soul classic, "Chain of Fools". Faraone changes tact once again on "Safari": it's a more linear affair than the others, and is based on a prowling electronic bass and a series of repetitive chord stabs that when combined, ooze menace.

Review: Rekids has recruited to two very high-profile producers to contribute interpretations to the first remix package from Faraone's 2020 No Filter album. Chris Liebing, best known for running and releasing on the CLR label, is given "No Drama" to rework. In his hands, it morphs into a mysterious, rolling groove that underpins mysterious synth hooks and has echoes of Detroit techno. Mathew Jonson gets the same track to remix. Favouring a more stripped back approach, he drops a complex rhythm that acts as the canvas against which he conjures up atmospheric synths while in the background, the faintest echo of a vocal sample is audible.

Review: "Way" is Faraone's second EP for Rekids this year, but prior to this, he had already built up a distinguished catalogue for labels like Drumcode, Ovum and Moon Harbour. It's not hard to understand the attraction of this record to Rekids. The title track marries the pumping Radioslave approach to techno with jacking Chicago beats, stuttering vocals and tales of music industry hubris. Aside from the a cappella, Rekids has commissioned Addison Groove to deliver a high-paced, footwork takes on the Italian producer's original version. If that's too frenetic, then the dub acid rework, with its tough kicks, searing acid line and filtered vocal snatches, will appeal for those who like it tracky.

Issued on Faraone's label, it's inspired by early-00s loop techno and is designed for peak-time use. The title track is powered by a menacing bass and a rolling rhythm, with these elements providing the backdrop for intense, filtered builds. The duo uses a similar approach on "Dirty Funk". Led by a frenetic groove and peppered with chord stabs, its disco filters and vocal snatches make it stand out. Both tracks serve to underline the fact that when it comes to peak-time, banging techno, they have few peers.
