Review: Back in 1990, Network Records' first two Bio rhythm compilations helped introduce a whole generation of British DJs to original US house and techno and, more importantly, the then emerging sound of UK bleep techno. This belated sequel is naturally not as ground-breaking, but it does feature a wealth of terrific material. There are a handful of previously unreleased nuggets recorded back in the early '90s (see the clonking Nexus 21 cut, the weighty and bleeping Doggy effort and MG's rush-inducing 'Sensual'), two different takes on Mark Archer's 2016 cut 'In The Presence of Beauty', a couple of completely new tracks (from Discomenments and MinimalArchiv), a remastered version of C&M Connection's peerless 'Biorhythms', and a simply stunning Discomendments re-edit of Neal Howard's incredible 'Indulge'. Essential!

Luke Vibert - "Acidhouse Ecstasy" - (4:28) 123 BPM
Review: Next up on Friendzone we welcome a very exciting pairing as both Mark Archer & Luke Vibert link up for a masterclass in breakbeat production. We kick off firstly with Mark's two originals, beginning with the scattered yet sub heavy rhythmic designs of 'What's The Name', which uses dusty vocal samples over crunchy drum rolls to set us on fire from the off. Next, the higher tempo of 'Pump It' links together smooth chords to give us something completely different before moving onto Luke Viberts two originals. The first of these takes the name 'Phoam', which links together acidic bubbles with slower broken beats, before the more classic 4x4 sounds of 'Acidhouse Ecstasy' calls time on a very interesting project indeed.

Review: De:tuned's tenth anniversary series continues with another rock solid EP packed with previously unheard treats. John Beltran steals the show with inspired opener "Juliette", an outer space Detroit techno number that underpins melancholic chords and dreamy electronics with a bustling, futurist rhythm track. Elsewhere, Altern8 man Mark Archer wraps dreamy, mood-enhancing riffs around crunchy machine drums on the luxurious "Depth From Within", Future Beat Alliance doffs a cap to vintage ambient techno and IDM on the shuffling bliss of "Reflected Notes" and Max404 gets busy with pots-and-pans drum hits, smooth acid bass and elongated organ chords on excellent EP closer "Butterflying".
