Review: After spending the last few years writing & producing for other people, International Feel main man Mark Barrott is keen to showcase some new music of his own. The tracks featured on Travelling Music were recorded in the summer of 2020, though this is the first time he's shared them with the public outside of his decidedly Balearic DJ sets. The title track - and its bubbly, sun-bright and utterly gorgeous 'Reprise' mix sibling - is loved-up and sun-soaked in the extreme, with Barrott layering lapping waves of Tangerine Dream style synth lines, kaleidoscopic counter-melodies and hypnotic, trance-inducing drums. Chillin' 4 work channels Aphex Twin from his easy listening Gentle People remix era, with added Sketches from an Island, while 'Arcade Scene' is Italo-tinged analogue nu-disco.

Review: International man of mystery (and indeed feels) Mark Barrott makes his debut on Gerd's Running Back with another set of blissed out island sketches. His third full LP (as Mark Barrott) Nature Sounds Of The Balearics returns to the sandy-toed source as 10 originals whisk us away to balmy pastures; sometimes the trip comes with a little under-sprung turbulence like the jittering juke twist of "Trix", other experiences soothe the soul with a little beatless sprinkle like "Ichimoku" while others, like the lavish finale track "Evening Star" are total synth cosmicity. A man of many aliases but one consistent soul; Barrott always blasts you away...

Review: International Feel boss Mark Barrott steps away from the the Balearic sounds he has been exploring of late to take a journey back to territory first explored with Bepu N'Gali back in 2012. "The Pathways Of Our Lives" is slo-mo (and very lo-slung!) Afro soul that continues Barrott's fixation with African polyrhythms and 70's style Philly strings. He has worked with a full band: The Grunewald Quartet return to string duties after collaborating on Barrott's Sketches from an Island 2 album last year. Second offering recorded live during one of his spring meditation sessions in Northern Ibiza, with India's Vishnu Quartet performing a 2 hour piece: be prepared for Jon Hassell style Fourth World aesthetics: very nice.

Schopenhaueras Garden - (4:50) 114 BPM
Emile - (3:06) 111 BPM
Mokush - (5:19) 100 BPM Hot
Lysander - (2:46) 80 BPM
Review: International Feel main man Mark Barrott is back with another great bunch of sublime imaginary soundtracks that are just perfect for drifting. On International Preence, forget the world right now and disappear to a riviera paradise where 'all's good' on "Schopenhaueras Garden","Mokush" the takes you to the East and introduces dome Oriental style melodies and aesthetics with soothing bell tones and gentle rhythm arrangements. Finally Lysaner" is the albums most melancholic moment for sure but undoubtedly bittersweet in all its emotive wonder. A tremendous follow up to last years rather well received Sketches From A Island LP.

Bush Society
Bush Society - (10:45) 107 BPM Hot
Saviours Or Savages? - (5:13) 105 BPM
Review: The always on-point International Feel Recordings - stronghold for the very best in all things disco and Balearic - drops Mark Barrott softmore release with a new EP after having put out the man's debut mini LP last summer. While that was more on a downtempo tip, "Bush Society" is a slow-burning disco chugger that is full of purring bass and tropical percussion twists. Instead, "Saviours Or Savages" is considerably tamer, less preoccupied with steady beats and a whole lot looser around the edges thanks to its wonky melodies, broken beats and desolate strings. This is somewhat of a tip, people!
