Review: Marla Singer teams up with Javi Lago to deliver the follow up release to last year's Phase 1-4 EP on Planet Rhythm."Blank Word 01" sees the pair take influence from Mike Parker and Sandwell District as they deliver a hypnotic slice of techno that leads the listener into a darkened tunnel, accompanied only by a series of electronic bleeps and blips. "02" adopts a similar approach, albeit with eerie synths and a steely riff guiding the way, while the third "Blank Word" sees the duo deploy a murky bass to support their adventures in multi-textured sound design. The fourth and final iteration is deeper than the others, but with an understated hint of menace at its centre.

Review: The debut release on Sculptures is a full-on affair. It starts with the pounding, industrial techno of Marla Singer's "Under the Bridge", a belligerent affair that channels the menace of a Helena Hauff DJ set and fuses it with the Blueprint label's most hypnotic rhythms. On "Half Life", newcomer Jamie Haus takes the intensity levels down a few notches for a bleep-heavy minimal workout, while German veteran Falko Brocksieper worships at the altar of 90s techno on the raw percussive "Forsemog". Rounding off the first outing from Sculptures is Liquid Marble with the heads down, loop techno of "Extension".

Review: Arnaud le Texier presents the next series of recruits for his newest venture Children Of Tomorrow; focused on hard hitting hypnotic techno grooves with Connection Series Vol. 5. First up is the droney sonar transmissions of current scene hero Antonio De Angelis with the fittingly titled "Drone", Barcelona based rising star Marla Singer with the tunnelling and trance inducing "Naked Face" while Moteka's "Xytyru" is one of the finest tributes to the Edit Select sound we've heard in a while. Elsewhere, PVS channels the vibe of early Prologue or Zooloft on Arcadia" and Wunderblock & Relic Radiation's "Recombination" will have you surrendering to the void in no time: awash in ethereal pads, churning synth loops and endless trails of reverb.
