Marshall Jefferson - "Vibe Three" - (6:26) 120 BPM
Jungle Wonz - "Human Condition" - (6:26) 120 BPM
Review: Out East in Kent is where you'll find Club Chi, an organization which has spent the last few years developing a fusion of Tai Chi and dancing called "Club Chi-Robix". The team behind it has now decided to launch an offshoot label, Chi'll Records, and has somehow persuaded house legend Marshall Jefferson to finally release one of his early unreleased gems. According to legend, "Vibe Three" was recorded in 1985 and was given to Ron Hardy to play at the Music Box. On this long-awaited release, the track's luscious combination of dreamy pads, colourful keyboard riffs and insanely jacking drums can also he heard on flipside "Human Condition", a Jungle Wonz re-make by Jefferson and Harry Dennis that adds an atmospheric spoken word vocal into the mix to excellent effect.
Review: In the 30-odd years he's spent producing heavy, TB-303-laden house music, DJ Pierre has never released an album under his most familiar alias. Wild Pitch: The Story sets out to put the record straight. It contains a mixture of previously unheard cuts and remixed classics in his distinctive Wild Pitch style (think dark, restless, mind-altering and funk-fuelled early morning workouts), with a few surprises thrown in. Highlights include a thumping re-make of 1993 slammer "Fall" - all jammed-out warehouse riffs, delay-laden vocal samples and thickset acid bass - the acid/deep house/gospel fusion of the Dr Martin Luther-King sampling "Meet Hate With Love" and a particularly wonky, acid-laden cover version of Donna Summer classic "I Feel Love". In the words of Roach Motel: "Wild Pitch, I love you".
