Review: It's been over 15 years since 'Exceeder' pushed Dutch duo Mason to the forefront of the scene; these days Iason Chronis steers the ship single-handedly, former partner Coen Berrier having stepped away, but he's clearly not ready to pack it in just yet! This joint outing with The Melody Men doesn't do anything hugely surprising - Mason has/have long had the knack of turning out accessible peaktime anthems for the more commercial clubs, and that's exactly what you get here. But if you're heading out to play in Ibiza this summer, this'll be a worthwhile addition to your bag for sure.

Review: Iason Chronis has released a ton over music under the Mason alias over the last two decades, though nothing quite as cheery, celebratory, colourful and mixed-up as this album on Toolroom. His third full-length in total, "Frisky Biscuits" was produced during lockdown and was intended to be a much-needed shot of musical positivity. We'd say he's hit the mark, delivering a set that cheerily struts between strobe-lit disco-house fun, revivalist boogie, his interpretation of South African kwaito/mid-'80s dance music, Italo-disco, skewed synth-pop, squelchy, synth-laden hip-hop, hands-in-the-air piano anthems and the odd quirky, smile-inducing interlude. It's the kind of album that will put a great big smile on your face, whatever your mood.

Review: It has been quite a year for the Toolroom institution. Celebrating their 15th birthday last year, they weren't ones to rest on their laurels, instead going full steam ahead with a bunch of genre defining compilations this year. But most importantly they have been instrumental in the comeback of funky house after a 20 year dormancy, with killer releases by the likes of Weiss, Cashio and boss man Mark Knight himself. Add to that one banging party at Chicago Social Club for Amsterdam Dance Event and it's evident that these guys are proper 24 hour party people.
