For a relatively unremarkable place, the Belgian city of Ghent has an impressive pedigree when it comes to dance music (think R&S Records mark one, the Glimmers, Soulwax etc). The latest DJ/producer to emerge from its winding streets is Maxim Lany, owner of the self-titled Lany Recordings imprint. Here he joins forces with a quartet of artists to drop some chunky, synth-heavy, funtime house. There are plenty of influences at play, from the nu-disco synths and old skool bump of "Cunny" and "Milk & Honey" to the building, gorgeous piano-laden deepness of "Runaway Eddy" and icy, Germanic "Gentse Feesten". Recommended.
