Review: Next up on Man Power's label is this collaboration between two of Bristol's most respected underground producers. The title track is a dramatic affair that resounds to soaring strings and a cascade of tripped out electronic tones. "Airheads" follows a similar aesthetic trajectory, but sees the duo add in a pulsating bass and clicking percussion to drive the musical elements. Meanwhile on "Buffalo", they go deeper. Teeming with expansive synths and underpinned by a lithe, wiry rhythm, it makes for a distinctive take on Detroit techno. Man Power's epic remix of "Airheads", where the melodies reach euphoric levels, completes this excellent EP.

Review: Well, this is surely the most special treat this week and we're not surprised it's coming from the Hypercolour mandem. These guys have been on fire over the last three years, releasing everyone worth releasing and even having them remix themselves such as on this new compilation. You have all the big guns: Maya Jane Coles, Kris Wadsworth, Tom Demac, Mark Henning, and George Fitzgerald. But, the best part of it all is that they're rewired and revamped by none other than: Bonobo, Jimmy Edgar, FaltyDL, Mr G, KiNK, Deetron, Matthew Herbert and more! We don't need to go on about how big this is...just enjoy this festival lineup in whatever way pleases you best. BIG and RECOMMENDED.

Review: For their 50th release, Los Angeles' Culprit Records - home to Visionquest and Hot Creations affiliated acts such as Hot Natured, Benoit & Sergio and Lee Foss - has turned to holiday house specialist Sam Watts, AKA Maxxi Soundsystem. This time, the Brighton-based producer has joined forces with vocalist Name One. The hook-up pays dividends on "Medicine", a woozy, occasionally grandiose concoction full of twinkly melodies, nagging handclaps and undulating tech-house electronics. "Fading Thought" is a touch deeper with greater emphasis on Name One's inherent soul, while "Lone Raver" is a melancholic, string-drenched, deep tech-house delight.

Review: It's usually all about the bass bangers at Maxxi Soundsystem's Brighton HQ. Here though we see MS retweak two retro pop classics into some cheeky edits. "Criticise" sees Alexander O'Neal's 1987 classic get twisted into a filthy stretched out jack-a-thon. On the digital flip "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" gets a quirky vocoder makeover complete with hiNRG arpeggiated bassline. Total party starter!

Review: Brighton dwellers Maxxi Soundsystem and Thomas Gandey (he of Cagedbaby fame) join forces for a jaunt on Moda Black. "I Don't Care" is the epitome of house in 2012 - all vaguely touchy-feely chords, pitched-down vocal oddness and ket-addled beats straight from the big room rulebook. "Shake Your Head" flips the script, offering a deeper groove and some deliciously tactile melodies (oh, and Gandey doing his best impression of Michael McDonland). Remix-wise, Jaymo & Andy George get out the big bassline and skippy beats on their version of "Shake Your Head", while PBR Streetgang deliver a slick chunk of bespoke house.

Review: Scoring big hits across the modern house underground, Maxxi Soundsystem makes his way to Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio imprint for the warm and soothing tones of "Stella's Way", which centres around a looping synth riff that sounds as though it was lifted straight out of 80s radio. Huxley's remix pares down any such frivolities, homing in on the scattered vocal flourishes and dropping a mean shuffle and off-key chords for some ultimately funky functionality. Shall Ocin rounds things off with a version that capitalises on the lush melodies of the original and bolsters them with additional synths for an equally fuzzy jaunt.
