Review: Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Berlin label has tapped its 'beloved family members, favourite artists and bestest friends' for this compilation. Certainly, it's an impressive line-up. MMM, the studio partnership between Fiedel and Errorsmith, delivers the insane acid of "Infinity Crash", Neil Landstrumm teams up with Brian Rays for a master class in wonky techno on "Talkin' Shit" and there are brilliantly moody, bass-heavy tracks from the likes of Swarm Intelligence and Poison Green. This being a Killekill release, there is no shortage of madness on offer, and Dez Williams delivers the deranged industrial banger, "Lord Prophet", while hardcore legend The Mover drops the chilling "Final Distance". Here's to another ten years.

Review: Well, we can't exactly say that we expected Merimell to land on Unknown To The Unknown, but it somehow feels just right! The artist who has previously released for the likes of Germany's Desolat, reshapes his sound here into something much freer, bouncier, and more old-school. In fact, "Workout" is a classic Chicago booty house kinda smacker - backed by a deeper and more mechanical remix by Palace Refix - and the same goes for the slithering house roller that is "Getting Hot". The Soft Pink Truth Climate Change mix is perhaps the shining moment on here, and it makes for a seriously catchy groove with a blaster for a bassline!

Review: Seduction is Merimell's debut EP, which is atonishing when one considers the fact that it sounds unlike any other contemporary release. Inspired by the primal stomp of Chicago ghetto techno, but powered by insistent filters, drum rolls and peppered with chopped up vocal samples, it is in stark contrast to the rest of Desolat's catalogue. The title track sees susbsonic bleeps screeching in over a nagging vocal hook, while "Drop It" is led by insane snares and a 'bass in your face' sample. "Back" is in a similar vein, with churning filters adding the heat to the drum rolls and jacking rhythms. Proving that she is not a one-trick pony, she rounds off the release with the chopped up house groove of "Heat".

Review: For one week only, most of the house and techno community has decamped to Amsterdam. In recognition of this annual industry jolly, Manchester Underground has put together a compilation of rolling, tribal grooves. Fittingly, "Crazy Vibe" by Edy Ramas and Dani Torres, features what could be the sound of a plane taking off amid its dense, filtered breaks and drops. On arrival in the Dam, the MUM massive get busy with the meaty bass of Soul Holder's "One More Time", the dreamy vocals and menacing subs of "Sunshine In The Darkness" by Carlos Pulido and Lopezhouse and this writer's favourite, the percussive techno and tripped out chords of "Muzique (Curious George & The Agent remix)" by OD Muzique and Mark Holmes.
